Zeal Optics Link Spherical Goggles by Tim Yu

ZealOpticsSphere.jpg

No matter the conditions, the limited edition Zeal Optics Link Spherical goggles I tried out this past weekend will have you covered. New for 2008, they feature the world's first polarized and photochromatic lens. Polarization allows for increased clarity and depth perception, but the lens also changes the level of opacity depending on the light and time of day, adapting to low light and sunny conditions. By eliminating the need to switch out lenses, this is truly the only goggle you'll need.

The spherical lens is form-fitting, increasing peripheral vision. Vents increase air volume and eliminates fog. Throughout a day on the mountain I never experienced any lapse in vision due to flat light or fog. The shape is compatible with most helmets while strategically placed rubber strips on inside of the headband help keep the goggle in place.

The most comfortable and functional goggles I've worn, purchase them for $200 at Zeal Optics.

The North Face NSE Collection
Last night we got our first look at the new North Face NSE Collection, a special limited collaboration with the Japanese sportswear manufacturer Goldwin. Inspired by the white birch forests that thrive on the northern island of Japan, the centerpiece of the collection is a new camo print featuring images of the birch forests. The first of the NSE special collector's edition, which will...
Lifebag
For extreme sports types or those who just like to take every precaution, Swiss company Snowpulse developed Lifebag. Like an airbag, it's designed to protect the head and thorax while keeping you afloat during an avalanche. Manually deployed similar to a parachute, the 150-liter shield inflates in less than three seconds and deflates after 90 seconds. Should you get buried, when the bag deflates...
Burton 2009
In between watching 1080s galore at the U.S. Open a couple weeks backs, I had the chance to demo some of Burton's gear due out for the 2009 season. Most noteworthy is their Infinite Channel System (ICS) and Extra Sensory Technology (EST)—an integrated board and binding system. Reducing the binding mount to two screws, thus eliminating the plate from under your boot. Debuted for...
