Cool Hunting

Whether it's 10 or 50 already cramming your drawers, we know your addiction for t-shirts refuses to be abated. At least Fiat thinks so. As part of their strategy to stay on top of the automaker market in Brazil (in which they've been wearing the crown for several years), Fiat's been hooking up with national and international designers for seasonal runs of tees that target exactly the kind of Brazilians who take street style as seriously as the labels they're most loyal to—and who likely also have a Fiat in the garage as well. Pictured here are photos of Fiat's upcoming winter 2008 line by a roster that includes French collective Shobo Shobo, Zoomp, Alcides e Amigos, Amapô, Estùdio Mopa and Ndeur. (Click image below left for detail.)
It's clear Fiat values Brazil's well-clad, fashion-industry types, usually sponsoring São Paulo Fashion Week and a pop-up cafe during the event. It even has a signature male and female line of clothes and accessories made in bamboo by Alexandre Herchcovitch.
The tees retail at $43 a pop and are sold at Banca de Camisetas in São Paulo or from their site.

Brazil's plastic footwear company Melissa, whose latest new collaboration was with none other than the Grande Dame of British fashion, Vivienne Westwood, is keeping it coming with some other exciting models in its upcoming Winter 2008 collection that deserve spotlights. It's proof in the plastic that the mania for their candy-scented shoes—much of them done in partnership with major designers—will once again go unrivaled....
Sustainability comes in all colors and forms these days, but rather than fall for the clever marketing of a product that purportedly saves the environment, Rio de Janeiro’s Amazon Life really hits the heart of sustainability by being aware of the people that can benefit from our consumerism. They just introduced their new line overseen by Brazilian design house Oestudio—a new direction for the...
The Brazilian outpost of Paris-based creative group Surface to Air just launched an impressive collection in their store from the post-graduate class of São Paulo’s FAAP, a renowned fashion design school in the city. Under the tutelage of their professor Jum Nakao, a respected Brazilian designer, eight students conceived and designed a collection that taught them not only about the details behind design itself...
At São Paulo Fashion Week (SPFW) a kiosk stocked with tees caught my attention. Yet another project that creative team ag407 has its hand in, one of the firm's partners told me that they had come up with the idea to mimic the "bancas" or newstands of São Paulo. The pop-up version at fashion week was based on six other Banca de Camisetas that...
Recently added to Beautiful/Decay's line of artist-designed tees, these two new shirts continue the brand's shirt-as-canvas approach. Australian artist Jonathan Nicol's "Conan Shirt" juxtaposes mythological icons, like vampire teeth, a woman wearing an eye patch and a skull, using a palette restricted to gray, yellow, black, and white. For Aya Kato's second Beautiful/Decay effort, the Japanese artist depicts two mermaids and their watery surroundings...
Every day this week we're writing about the things that really caught our eye at the top British casualwear show To Be Confirmed last weekend. London-based Kai and Sunny are the designers responsible for Call Of The Wild, a label that's quickly done well through both word-of-mouth and blogosphere recommendations. I caught up with Kai at TBC, and he talked me through their thinking...
