Fernanda Cohen: War of Words by Lost At E Minor
We're big fans of Fernanda Cohen's work. The Brooklyn-based illustrator just completed a new series called "War of Words" which has received two silver medals from the Society of Illustrators of New York and Los Angeles and will be featured in HOW International Design in March. Of the series, Cohen says, "War of Words focuses on the dynamic behind ten different universal arguments: politics, love, childhood, sports, customer service, religion, family, protests, friendship and self, because in the history of human communication and interaction, we've always argued over the same things, in a wide range of different cultures and languages." Madeline Valentine Illustrations
Madeline Valentine creates the most haunting illustrations. What makes the Brooklyn artist's work so amazing is the juxtaposition of her soft, dreamlike aesthetic with the thoroughly intense subject matter that she employs—a contrast that could easily come off as contrived if not executed so beautifully....

Doug Cowan
Doug Cowan is an artist's artist in the purist sense: an illustrator who truly loves his sketchbook. That said, the New York-based artist' work is clearly permeated by an overarching sketchbook aesthetic. Cowan doesn't so much sketch in his book than thoroughly loses himself in it. The result being the most hauntingly beautiful drawings of nature, forlorn figures and everyday ephemera....

A Paper Tiger
A Paper Tiger is a new venture that launched in January of this year selling exclusive prints by some favorite artists such as Jack Long (pictured). Usually so-called printmaking and distributor sites are unimpressive, but these guys really seem to know what they're doing. With artists like Ken Garduno, Haubs, Tesslar Lo, Jeana Song and many more, A Paper Tiger is releasing extremely limited...

Sanna Annukka
I first locked eyes on Sanna Annukka's beautiful designs when British band Keane commissioned her to create the artwork for their second album Under The Iron Sea. Her silkscreen creations are a cool blend of her Finnish heritage (most notably, the epic poem The Kalevala), as well as the art of the Far East....

David Kassan
Brooklyn-based artist David Kassan paints such lifelike portraits, they practically leap off the canvas. From his website: "As an expression of his own calculated observation and visual consumption of surrounding environment, introspective glimpses of reality imbue the art of David Kassan. By immersing himself into his subject matter, Kassan is able to infuse his painting with life and realism." (Click image for detail.)...
