Shepard Fairey: Obama Posters by Jacob Resneck

Though the name may not hold as much clout as Kennedy, Shepard Fairey has apparently made his choice for the next President of the United States.

Throwing his weight and talent behind the junior senator from Illinois, the illustrator has produced two striking posters with the man's likeness and main slogans. He's offering the 24" x 36" silkscreens for $50 a pop on his website with an aim to get its iconic image across the nation in time for Super Tuesday (5 February) and beyond. Proceeds will go to a larger, statewide (California) poster campaign. Limited to an edition of 350, they'll be available this Wednesday, 30 January 2008. UPDATE: They are, of course, sold out.

Note: This does not constitute an endorsement by this writer or CH, we just think Fairey lending his unabashedly propagandistic work to a historic moment makes it all the more momentous.

Alyson Fox for Keep Calm
We were early fans of U.K.-based Keep Calm and their eye for art and design that evoked simpler times, so it's good to see them branching out as an online gallery but staying true to the overall aesthetic with these latest limited-edition prints. The illustrations are by multi-talented Texan Alyson Fox, who has also been getting a decent amount of word-of-mouth praise, and can...
Ultimate Member Limited Vibrators
Where do a luxury sex brand, an infamous nightclub and the "pop" artist of the moment all come together? We found the answer to this question in the First Exposure exhibition and a vibrator. The Ultimate Member Limited is a collaboration between Jimmyjane, purveyor of sleek sex toys, Kabaret's Prophecy, the exclusive London play den and Jamie Hewlett, the illustrator who created Tank Girl...
James T. Williamson: It's Hard Work
The latest sculpture by Brooklyn artist James T. Williamson, titled "It's Hard Work," is a spoof on the traditional plaster presidential bust. What began in 2001 as a study to better understand Bush's face, the all-to-familiar squinting visage comes in a military green, slate blue, red and tan. Williamson says, "I had been creating two dimensional Bush protraits and caricatures and was frustrated by...
Keep Calm and Carry On
The British stiff upper-lip and Blitz spirit distilled into five stoical words, these silkscreen prints are based on a message that was posted on walls during the Second World War. The original featured stark white text on a red background, but U.K.-based student Lucas Lepola has updated things using more subtle colors plum, pear and peach, each limited to 50 numbered prints. The sentiment...
