Cool Hunting
We're about halfway through the Popdeck x Cool Hunting Skateboard Design Contest and we've already seem some fit designs. I've got a few decks in mind that I'd like to roll around on, but I'll keep that to myself for now. A $200 cash prize along with a free deck is up for grabs so head on over to Popdeck to submit your design before the contest ends next week on 31 January 2008.
The design theme is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). This is open to interpretation, just keep in mind that designs will be assessed based on this concept, and originality always helps. Even if you don't want to submit your own design you can at least vote on your favorites. Of the top five rated, we'll choose our one winner to be made into a real deal limited-edition deck. Some entries are pictured above and after the jump.

It's time we tap into the CH talent pool again (that means you!), this time for a skateboard design contest with our new friends over at Popdeck. The Threadless of skateboard design, Popdeck is a website that allows users submit and vote on designs with the winner getting a cash prize and their entry made into a limited-edition board. Since we're a bit obsessive...
We have a winner! Of the dozens of entries, voters at Popdeck narrowed it down to three and after a close vote here at the CH headquarters, we ultimately chose CSJ 89's hyperbolic take on OCD. The contorted facial expressions interpret OCD in its worst form, depicting a visceral reaction to something as seemingly inconsequential as misaligned fringe on a rug. Limited in quantity—only...
Launching tonight as part of Milan's furniture festivities, the latest collaboration with leading designers and the second with blob lord Karim Rashid and Veuve Clicquot is this reinvention of a chandelier in the form of a glowing pink champagne holder that doubles as a cooling tote. The design, an asymmetrical sensual ellipse, was the result of Rashid's initial scribble after asked to meld the...
A collaboration between Italian designer Luigi "Allergic to Straight Lines" Colani and German piano-makers Schimmel in the late 1990s, the Pegasus grand piano looks like something you'd see on a Star Trek set. Updates to the classic form include a slightly curved, ergonomic keyboard (eliminating any need for the player to move their body), an electrically-controlled hydraulic lid (to control projection) and a fully...
The Quiet Life just released its five-shoe collaboration with Lakai shoes. Designed by Andy Mueller, these 5 sets of shoes are available directly through The Quiet Life's online shop and at most finer skate shops and boutiques. "We've been hinting about this for months in our news section about doing one shoe with Lakai," says Andy " When they first asked us to do a...
The “Furni Meet BigChief” is a freely downloadable cardboard cutout that you can “glue, cut and paste” into a 3-D little toy guaranteed to make you the freshest kid in the office/world. Conceived as a way for two emerging design companies to give a little back to the community that supports them, this collaboration between Milan design company Bigchief Design and Montreal-based Furni is...
