Polly van der Glas Jewelry by Fiona Killackey

PV02.jpg PV26.jpg

Plenty are on the "let's recycle and reuse" bandwagon these days but few have looked at really reusing what we have quite like Melbourne-based jewelry designer Polly van der Glas. Sourcing her materials from friends and family who have been kind enough to offer (actual) parts of themselves, van der Glas created a stunningly innovative debut collection which features human hair and teeth. Already turning heads (and no doubt some very weak stomachs) van der Glas pieces are set for cult status. For your own piece of, well, someone else contact Polly at pollypollypollypolly [at] hotmail [dot] com.

With stockists all over Australia as well as a sprinkling in the States and New Zealand, Sydney's Lola&Bailey is rapidly gaining cult status for eclectic, off-beat and charming jewelery that merges old-fashioned femininity with modern detailing. With collection names like "When Lola Met Bailey" and "The First Kiss" the label injects a sense of romance into every outfit, conjuring up images of whimsical lovers...
Pet Hypothesis Jewelry
Handmade from repurposed billboard vinyl, the debut line of Pet Hypothesis jewelry follows in the tradition of Freitag and other creative re-users by reinventing industrial materials as accessories. Designer Chelsa Robinson (also formerly ReadyMade's product manager) layers sterling silver chains over bits of colored vinyl that she sews with contrasting thread. We chose to feature Geopanic for its confetti-like abstraction of CMYK colors with...
Leslie Shershow Jewelry
Boston-area metalsmith and jewelry designer Leslie Shershow finds inspiration in topics as disparate as found objects, stuffed animals, and the exploitation of nature by humans. Despite the wide array of subject matter, her collections share a refined ruggedness and a rough-hewn beauty. Our favorite collection is her Alaska Series, with its antlers, rifles, bear heads and horns. Selections from the Alaska Series have recently...
