This Charming Man by Fiona Killackey
Melbourne-based jewelry designer Edward Janssen is the man behind This Charming Man, an offbeat line of bracelets, rings and necklaces that toe an odd line between sinister and food-centric visual puns. Looking to stand out from the status quo, fans of This Charming Man can choose from a host of eclectic pieces including the infamous bear trap necklace charm (below right), the skull/love ring (above left) or the knuckle sandwich pendant (below left).

Rather than follow global trends, Janssen is content to create according to his own idea of beauty, and in doing so, is steadily carving a niche for well-crafted, quality designed and above all else, original pieces. Worth the look.

William the Brave Bronze Rings
These stylish hoops of bronze have a profound effect on me. Created by Australian jeweler Stannard Inc., William the Brave bronze rings are stunning, look like something a crusader from the middle ages would wear and the raw look exudes an air of individuality. But the nice thing is that despite their virile attributes, you can actually get away with wearing them if you're a...

Blue Gear Works Jewelry
While walking in Soho the other day, I came across a fabulous antique-chic jewelry stand helmed by New York based artist Blue Bayer. Blue uses found objects such as gears, clocks, lockets, spoons and evil eyes to create Victorian, steam punk-style jewelry in his Lower East Side studio/gallery/shop called Blue Gear Works. With each unique piece, he prides himself on exquisite craftsmanship using classic...
