Recycled Wood Tree House by Phuong-Cac Nguyen
If remembering the fun and simple learning experience from playing with Lincoln Logs as a kid brings back good memories, then the Recycled Wood Tree House—a modern update to those brown stacking pieces of our generation—will likely bring the same to any easily bored rugrat over age three in your life.
This 22-inch-tall, recycled cherry and elder wood tree house made with removable parts like retractable stairs, blocks, pegs, crane and load and other pieces is built to be assembled and reassembled by children's hands while pushing the limits of their imagination in the exercise. It's a beautiful toy that will stand the test of time.
Reform School has it for $170.

Laundry Dropps
For city-dwellers too lazy to haul jugs of detergent, the environmentally-minded and/or those just sick of drips and spills, Laundry Dropps are convenient little dissolving detergent pods that cut down waste and clean duds naturally. About the size of a C battery, each "dropp" contains super-concentrated detergent without any of the extra junk found in other detergents. In addition to being phosphate (bad for...

Wearable Collections Clothing Recycling
Recognizing that discarded clothing makes up six percent of household waste—386 million tons of the stuff—in New York City alone, Wearable Collections latched on to a novel solution. Rather than dump trash-bags full of used clothing (much of it still decent but obsolete to the owner) in a New Jersey landfill, why not export it to South America where it could be put to...

Daily Dump Home Composting
Based in Bangalore, India, Daily Dump (an unfortunate but memorable name) offers designer clay composting containers that are a lot more rustic and stylish than the green plastic bins generally available in the West. Composting is a great way for both rural and urban households to minimize garbage while also producing nutrient-rich soil that can be used for household plants and homegrown produce. They...

With us all increasingly looking for everyday efforts to be more green and care for our planet, why not consider an option for our last day here? Hazel Selina has done just that.
