Mink Chocolate Café by Jonah Samson

Opened earlier this year in downtown Vancouver, the very delightful Mink Chocolate Café offers a full espresso and fondue bar along with a line of over 30 different handmade chocolate bars.

After researching some of the world’s best chocolatiers in San Francisco, Montreal, New York and Tokyo, owner Marc Liebermann set out to showcase dark chocolate, which mostly fuses the taste and flavors of ganache-filled bonbons—but the focus here is on the chocolate bar form.

Each beautifully-packaged bar is made in Vancouver and uses local, organic ingredients whenever possible. Because there are no added preservatives to extend shelf-life, you’ll have to eat them soon after purchase. But with quirky names and irresistible flavors like “Open in Case of Emergency” (fresh mint and Kentucky bourbon) and “Ginger or Maryanne” (candied ginger), no amount of willpower will allow them to sit around for long anyway!

Mari's Brownies
With adventurous flavor combinations, like Thai Coffee and Fig Port, made entirely from scratch using premium ingredients and a fudgey texture, Mari's Brownies are CH's kind of treat. We also like their refreshingly small size, making them a moderate indulgence rather than a "guess-I'm-skipping-dinner" kind. Neatly packaged in their signature Pumpkin-hued baton boxes and wrapped with custom ribbon, the dense, rich squares make perfect...
Max Brenner
Max Brenner, the Isreali chocolatier behind a line of eponymous chocolates and a global chain of restaurants/boutiques, is on a mission to create a "new chocolate culture." Since the British invention of the chocolate bar by Frye and Sons in 1847, not much has changed about the way we eat chocolate. Sure, you'll find Green tea-infused fillings and single-origins so fine they're kept in...

Refining the retro looks of the Canby (below), their first pair, this new edition has a lighter, slimmer silhouette and comes in zebrawood. The Canby, which debuted in July 2009, is available in zebrawood, maple or wenge (a dark tropical hardwood). Each...
