Cool Hunting
For the past eight years Seoul-based design studio Millimeter/Milligram (Mmmg) has been making stationery and accessories that get attention for their fresh color combos and pop art design. Their Capsule Letters were the first of their products to make an appearance on CH and we recently spotted a few other items that are worth a mention too. If you can't find them at your local stationer, Mmmg does ship internationally.
Their ballpoint click pens feature cartoon illustrations and the charm of transliterated phrases. Our favorite, from their ver. 2 group of pens, is "Be the hippie" with the accompanying figure sporting a headband. The pens are 2,500 won each from Mmmg or for $7 from Inhabit.
Lucky Week is a weekly desk calender, so named for the simple rounded numerals that decorate the cover. Divided into daily sections, each page provides an at-a-glance reminder of your week. Available in red or blue, the spiral bound planner is 3,500 yon from Mmmg.
The Smile Mask Card is an all-purpose card that's sure to delight the recipient with its clever design. It also features more slightly askew text on the inside, this time reading "If you laugh, blessings will come your way." It's 1,900 won from Mmmmg.
In addition to shops around the world that carry Mmmg (including Greenwich Letterpress if you're in NYC), Mmmg recently opened their own shop and cafe in Seoul, which from the looks of it is every bit as cute as their designs. We particularly love the bag and cups, pictured above right.

Poster boy Shephard Fairey really hit the big time when his Obama print was picked up by the Obama Presidential Campaign last year. Having subsequently designed the official Inaugural Poster for Obama, he looks well positioned to become the go-to guy for reshaping how we visualize the White House. If posters aren't your thing, take comfort in knowing that Fairey has also dipped his feet...
'Tis the season to start thinking about how you're going to wrap up all of your thoughtful presents. Need we remind you that, especially for the humblest of gifts, it's all in the presentation? As design enthusiasts, we enjoy finding great wrapping paper that really stands out for its graphic motif or method of construction. Eco-Friendly PaperFeeling guilty isn't very festive and neither is...
No matter your religious beliefs, one thing we can probably all agree on is how laborious it is to read the Bible. A Swedish outfit called Illuminated World hopes to change that notion by creating Bible Illuminated, a relevant version of the historical book. Set in magazine format, the New Testament publication includes the same time-honored stories paired with photos that conceptualize how they...
For anyone who's ever wondered what to do with all of their excess elephant poop, there's finally an answer: turn it in to paper. The Great Elephant Poo Poo Paper Company has been converting dung into a wide variety of paper products since 2002 and their business practice is refreshingly sustainable. They start by collecting the abundant poo from various conservation parks, converting it...
We love the Tielen Perpetual Calendar for its simple design and, well, perpetual usefulness. Apparently some folks in Sweden liked it too recently awarding the prototype a European Design Award last week in Stockholm. Graphic designer Sander Tielen used the versatility of the digital numeral "8," creating different colored cards that slide in behind a black front to display the date with an appealingly...
