Cool Hunting

I used to make fun of people who wore denim on the slopes, but Burton recently made it more functional with this first edition Gore-Tex LTD Grail Denim Jacket and Pant.
Denim alone is probably the worst thing you could wear in cold and wet conditions, however an exclusive collaboration with Gore-Tex gives Burton the sole rights for two years to use their technology that makes denim more snow ready.
Lining the denim with Gore-Tex lends water resistance, insulation and flexibility while pit zips provide an out when overheating. Ride off the slopes straight into the bar and you'll fit right in with the aprés crowd.

The limited edition line is shipping to Burton stores now and should be on racks any day now, but act quick because supplies won't last. You can also get it online at Burton. The Jacket goes for $600 and the pant $500.

Here's an early look at what's to come from one of our favorite snow wear brands Idiom. As we've come to expect from Burton's high end label, it seems as though designers Jeff Staple and Hiroshi Fujiwara have kept the 2009 line simple, attractive and technical, just the way we like it. Following suit with Burton's plans to become more environmentally responsible, going green...
A first look at a new initiative by Burton, Private Stock is an extremely limited collection of products available exclusively at a select group of 100 specialty retailers worldwide. For the launch of Private Stock, Burton collaborated with one of Cool Hunting's favorites, Ron English. Known for his politically charged illustrations and subverted billboards, English's works are used on the Burton Hero (pictured right)...
In between watching 1080s galore at the U.S. Open a couple weeks backs, I had the chance to demo some of Burton's gear due out for the 2009 season. Most noteworthy is their Infinite Channel System (ICS) and Extra Sensory Technology (EST)—an integrated board and binding system. Reducing the binding mount to two screws, thus eliminating the plate from under your boot. Debuted for...
Eighties revivalism continues and when done right we enjoy seeing the era reinvented in design, fashion, music, etc. Better yet, a reissue celebrates originals and maybe even better still, adding new details to classics modernizes them for a fresh look with all the functionality we expect out of today's gear. Specifically, we're talking about Burton's new Archive Series Collection, a line that pulls out...
An exclusive first look, Context drops another collabo today, this time with Kicking Mule Workshop for an ultra limited-edition pair of denim pants. A small production of only 50 pairs worldwide, the shuttle-loomed denim leaves a clean white selvage line—but the dying process is what really sets them apart. To make the dye, harvests of the indigo leaves from the Okayama Prefecture in Japan...
Levi's recently released a limited-edition series of four pairs of jeans featuring vibrantly colored graphics. Geometric prints in red, blue, orange and yellow line the inside of each of the four jeans included in the collectible series. Inspired by 1980s video game graphics, the arcuate thread stitching on rear pockets and a button on the fly both smartly coordinate with the respective colorway. The...
