Suissa: Enlighten by Tim Yu

Suissa recently released their newest wood encased computer called Enlighten. A bit more abstract than their previous works, Enlighten is a smaller variety with the inner workings and circuits viewable through a front pane of glass. A cut polygon placed in the middle of the unit and reflective surfaces add a bit of flair. Only 10 of these sculptural computers are available on a commission-only basis. For more information on this limited edition and bespoke model visit Suissa.

Suissa Computers
It's no secret that personal computers have taken center stage in people's increasingly digital lives. If the recent news from Apple and launches at the Consumer Electronics Tradshow (CES) are any indication, they're increasingly evolving beyond the dull, noisy, wire-entangled boxes we're used to. Even better than the gadgety and artificial look and feel of the new computer-based devices we're seeing, Howard Suissa uses...

Multipolar Projects: It's Really Really Really OK
As a woodworker myself I understand the monotony and borderline insanity of a repeated task. (Yesterday alone I made over 1,000 notches in some wood blanks to make boxes.) However, when it's all done, there's definitely beauty in the results and therapy in repetition. That said, Chicago-based artist Sighn has taken on the mother of all projects, hand-cutting 1,000,000 wooden "ornaments" each with the...

For their next installment, "Into the Woods," the folks at DWB gave CH an exclusive sneak preview of the nature-based and nature-inspired items in store before it opens this Thursday,...

Custom Hulgers
If you happened to miss the buzz a couple days ago, Pokia relaunched as Hulger and will be manufacturing old school corded cell phone headsets. Even better, they have Bluetooth and VoIP models in the works. Right now they're auctioning a bunch of customized Hulgers that were in the Margin London show last February. The designs come from I-Saw, Junky Styling, New Future Graphic,...

Boost Mobile's Woodie
Boost Mobile, the youth market flavor of Nextel, is offering limited edition versions of the Motorola i860 handset. There's a tattoo version, which walks a fine line between good and cheesy. The most recent style is this one featuring wood-grain details on the inside and top face. It's a pretty elegant contrast of tech and retro. Boost is definitely doing good things despite the...
