Cool Hunting
It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a blimp...no, it's the gorgeous, futuristic-looking Stratocrusier, currently in concept form by Tino Schaedler and Michael J. Brown.
Calling it a "lifestyle zeppelin," the duo designed the white airship as the latest offering in luxury travel that refreshes passengers instead of leaving them dry, dehydrated and jet lagged, a consequence travelers have come to expect.
The key is in the airship's explicit focus on health and entertainment. The designers chose helium to power the cruiser smoothly through the air, an easy ride that would urge passengers to stray far from their seats to take advantage of the on-board spa (with treatments and personal trainers even), a gourmet restaurant with stunning views and private cabins. Air-sickness bags could be saved for use after a night of partying and dancing to music provided by invited DJs. Those on deadline can work from mini offices, likely to be well-stocked with all the latest technological features.
While the Stratocruiser is something to look forward to for long international destinations, the concept is actually made for medium haul travel, such as across the Pacific or Atlantic and between Europe and the Middle East.

From the gas-guzzling to the eco-chic, the following are Cool Hunting's favorite alternatives to transporting yourself and your precious belongings—whether for a jaunt around town, cross-country or overseas. by Tacita Vero Just opened, the Everland Hotel sits like a jewel on the roof of that treasure chest, the contemporary art space Palais De Tokyo in Paris. First installed in 2002 at other locations including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Leipzig, the Hotel is reaching its most stunning and coveted placement in the City of Light, oddly on the top of the 1930s...

The 40th Tokyo Motor Show 2007 will be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba City from 26 October-11 November. In preparation, the big Japanese automakers have begun rolling out some of their futuristic concept cars. If it's any indication of what's to come, we're excited to see what else is in store. Here are our two favorites so far. More of a personal transportation...
Capitalizing on the friction and heat created by walking, running and even just wearing jeans, engineers from Michigan Technological University, Arizona State University and NanoSonic Inc. devised a way to use this type of generated energy in a concept backpack that can charge portable electronic devices, like iPods and mobile phones. Shoulder straps made of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), a strong, flexible material that feels...
A play on the "reach out and touch someone jingle," Tarati is Branko Lukic's new idea for a mobile that dials by passing fingers through keyholes creating a touchless experience. Nevermind multi-touch user interfaces, the former IDEO designer's concept makes dialing "a more magical experience and, hence, more indicative of what's really happening beyond the visible realm." Borrowing a name from the Sanskrit word...
