Cool Hunting
Speckled Quail Egg Necklace by Tim Yu

I think I might like Stephanie Simek's latest creation even more than her Tammy Faye Eyelash necklace previously featured on Cool Hunting. Yet another eerily unusual necklace, this time she makes the pendant using an actual quail egg, which she purchases from a woman who raises quails in her backyard in Texas.
Varying slightly in size but approximately 1", the entire shell is reinforced with an epoxy resin coating for added strength. The inside of the egg is lined with 23k gold leaf, which gives off a buttercup-like glow and the pendant hangs on a lightweight 18" 14 karat gold chain. Its innate frailty and delicate nature makes it very feminine piece.
Available for $125 directly from Stephanie Simek.

Brazilian designer A Figurinista embraces the concept with her Cute Monsters jewelry. The collection repurposes vintage pieces to make brooches that resemble eyes, ears and a mouth for a result that's as adorable as it is eclectic. Is it just me...
