Twelve Pairs of Men's Fall Shoes
by Tim Yu

by Piera Gelardi and Christene Barberich
Walking, driving, dashing, or just dinner and a movie, each of our top fall shoes has a street-smart timelessness that forgoes any passing trends. A sheepskin-lined ankle boot by A.P.C., waxed cotton brogues from Rachel Comey and ultra-glossy navy sneakers by Common Projects top our list…and yield a whole new generation of shoes that will finish a fellow off in style.
Above, from left: Surface to Air No Lace sneaker, $185, available at Bblessing. Common Projects patent-leather high tops, $300, available at Seven New York and Odin. For more info visit Common Projects.

Zhang Huan: Chinese Performance Art
by Lost At E Minor
One of the earliest and most influential icons of contemporary Chinese art, Zhang Huan, is best known for his performance piece in which he covered himself with honey and sat naked in front of a fetid public restroom outside of Beijing until he was completely covered in flies. Another popular work is his muscle suit made of meat—or muscle depending on how you look at it (click on image for enlarged view).
Now living in New York City, he's created sculptures, drawings, installations and has travelled the world shocking and mesmerizing people with his masochistic performances. Watch a short film about the artist here.
Speckled Quail Egg Necklace
by Tim Yu

I think I might like Stephanie Simek's latest creation even more than her Tammy Faye Eyelash necklace previously featured on Cool Hunting. Yet another eerily unusual necklace, this time she makes the pendant using an actual quail egg, which she purchases from a woman who raises quails in her backyard in Texas.
Varying slightly in size but approximately 1", the entire shell is reinforced with an epoxy resin coating for added strength. The inside of the egg is lined with 23k gold leaf, which gives off a buttercup-like glow and the pendant hangs on a lightweight 18" 14 karat gold chain. Its innate frailty and delicate nature makes it very feminine piece.
Available for $125 directly from Stephanie Simek.
The Lotus Sanitizing System
by Letizia Rossi
The Lotus Sanitizing System from Tersano uses Oxyshield technology to infuse water with ozone. Voted one of Time's best inventions of 2006, process transforms ordinary tap water into a non-toxic solution that can be used to neutralize up to 99.9% of bacteria and pesticides on foods, as well as clean all surfaces, remove stains, mold and mildew and deodorize.
A multi-purpose bowl sanitizes and removes pesticides from fruits and vegetables and household items, like sponges, small toys, kitchen gadgets and utensils by submerging them completely. The spray bottle creates a mobile version of the powerful tap water-based all-purpose cleaner for use on most services. The kit includes a set of two microfiber cleaning cloths that go with the spray bottle to achieve impressive results.
Giving up a little of the precious counter-top real estate to store the admittedly somewhat clunky Lotus Sanitizing System maybe be a worthwhile trade-off to eliminate toxic cleaning products, germs, odors and pesticides from your home.
Available online, the $170 price includes shipping.
Yoko Devereaux x DFC: Housewares
by Tim Yu
I don't smoke, but if I did, I would use one of these new Superflat Ninja Ashtrays (above left). A collaboration with Mexico City's hip houseware brand DFC, Yoko Devereaux expands beyond the tailored knitwear the label's known for to add some well-designed home furnishings. Also included in the collection is the Cabron Bottle Opener (below), a solid brass bottle opener featuring a brass knuckle, and Drink Bullet (above right), a series of six shot glasses housed in a glass case shaped like a bullet.
Incorporating Yoko's Clockwork Orange theme of the season, all pieces allude to violence and could double as a weapon. Hand cut from polished glass the ashtray, like its name states, is very flat, keeping it unobtrusive when not in use and sharp at all times. The shot glasses, made of scientific-grade borosilicate glass, are hand-etched and stem from DFC's Science Series.

The limited-edition series of functional artwork will be available at some specialty and department stores nationwide. High-quality yet accessible, get the Cabron Bottle Opener for $126, the Superflat Ninja Ashtrays for $69 each and a set of Drink Bullets for $450.
