Cool Hunting

Idiom, Burton's small Japanese house label, are back with some new styles and upgrades for the upcoming Fall and Winter. All of the jackets are simple with the attention to detail we've come to expect including taped seams, pit zips, waterproof zippers and handwarmer pockets, to name a few.
Favorites include the 2.5 Slant Zip Jacket (above left), a new style featuring a great tartan print and a slanted zip adding to the futuristic look. Well cut, it features fully taped seams and laser-cut, welded zipper details. It also comes with an Idiom stuff sack for on-the-go situations. The Continuum Down Jacket (above right) is a slimmed down puffy jacket that keeps you just as warm as the bloated alternatives. The laminated fabric keeps the insulation evenly distributed throughout and a removable stretch waist gaiter keeps drafts and snow out. The satin-like red colorway, inspired by Japanese silk fabrics, is our favorite.
As always all Idiom gear is available in limited quantities. Check out other styles and purchase at The Glade.

This past winter star Japanese designer Hiroshi Fujiwara was always blogging about his epic snowboarding trips all over the world. The snow-covered old growth terrain was always so inviting but I also took note of the brightly colored minimalist jackets that he and his crew would wear and wondered what brand they were sporting. Through a Neil Harmon photo essay on Honeyee called Still...
The end of September is not too early to start thinking about keeping warm on the cold winter city streets. It also isn't to early to think about getting back on the mountain for fun on the board. These two pursuits became one when I found these gloves from Burton. The AK Leather Tech Glove is meant to be a killer park glove, but...
A first look at a new initiative by Burton, Private Stock is an extremely limited collection of products available exclusively at a select group of 100 specialty retailers worldwide. For the launch of Private Stock, Burton collaborated with one of Cool Hunting's favorites, Ron English. Known for his politically charged illustrations and subverted billboards, English's works are used on the Burton Hero (pictured right)...
Here's an early look at what's to come from one of our favorite snow wear brands Idiom. As we've come to expect from Burton's high end label, it seems as though designers Jeff Staple and Hiroshi Fujiwara have kept the 2009 line simple, attractive and technical, just the way we like it. Following suit with Burton's plans to become more environmentally responsible, going green...
In between watching 1080s galore at the U.S. Open a couple weeks backs, I had the chance to demo some of Burton's gear due out for the 2009 season. Most noteworthy is their Infinite Channel System (ICS) and Extra Sensory Technology (EST)—an integrated board and binding system. Reducing the binding mount to two screws, thus eliminating the plate from under your boot. Debuted for...
Leading the way in grown-up street wear, Public School recently released Fall/Winter 2008, their second collection. We've been into their clean cut but somewhat edgy designs since the label launched last year; the quality materials and subtle details set them apart from the rest of the rack at Barneys or Fred Segal. Their new NY Hearts Me t-shirt (not available until next Fall 2008),...
