Cool Hunting

Playground by Ami Kealoha

Founded by photographer Zach Gold and stylist Julie Ragolia, Playground is a new bi-annual magazine in the form of limited-edition loose leaf prints. The above images (exclusive to CH, click for detail) are from the first issue, which features handmade works by artists Terence Koh and Stuart Semple, alongside spreads that include designs by the likes of Thom Browne, Lanvin, Surface to Air and Alexander Wang, among others. In the Playground world even the box is a work of art; the dripping white surface is a collaboration with designer Dror Benshetrit.

Limited to an edition of 250, Playground will be distributed only in a select few stores in major cities but is available for $600 by contacting gallery Anna Kustera (where it's also on view as part of the group show "The Black Market" through 3 August 2007).

Corduroy Magazine No. 3
I recently picked up a copy of issue No.3 of Corduroy Magazine and ended up reading it from cover to cover in one sitting. Named after the idea that a corduroy jacket never goes out of style, the magazine features profiles on up-and-coming and well-known artists, musicians and actors, as well as entire sections devoted to art and fashion. Although this may seem like...
Fray Issue 1: Busted!
Busted! marks the first print edition of Fray.com’s long-running series of first-person true stories. Launched in the internet wilderness of 1996, it served the novel role of personal storytelling forum, eventually expanding to a series of live events and albums. With the new millennium came the inevitable over-saturation of blogs and online journals, pushing Fray into an indefinite hiatus, only to return last month...
Location
The New York Observer teamed up with Cushman & Wakefield for a six-day fashion and art exhibit named after the new real estate section in the Observer, "Location." Curated and designed by Tony Arcabascio of ALIFE the exhibit features installations made from bundles of the salmon colored Observer as well as works from the likes of Ben Cho, Libertine, Ruffian, Susan Cianciolo, Elise Overland,...
The Septemberists
The Septemberists, artist Anthony Goicolea's film mythologizing the creation of Thom Browne's Spring/Summer 2007 collection, is as neo-18th century Americana as the suits themselves. Gorgeously-shot by Brooklyn-based cinematographer Brian Rigney Hubbard over five days on a farm in Massachusetts, the story follows a cadre of young men through the lush landscape as they pick cotton, shear sheep and gather ink from an octopus (pictured),...
