The first Only Watch auction in 2005 was so wildly successful—raising €1.9 million Euros for charity (Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy)—there was little doubt they'd try to follow it up. Two years later, it's back with more rare machines from today's most desirable brands. The event, commissioned by Prince Albert II of Monaco, will offer 35 limited edition and one-of-a-kind prototype watches, or as the horologically correct say "Piéce Unique." The watches will be auctioned at the upcoming 2007 Monaco Yacht Show by Antiquorum. Last year's largest fundraiser was the €285,000 collaboration by Richard Mille and Philippe Starck. They teamed up again for the ultra-futuristic model titled, “An integral interpretation in titanium" (pictured right). See my other highlights (and info on those pictured below) here.

Hamilton's latest ODC X watch continues to draw on the 1966 Kubrick-commissioned original, a limited-edition watch featured in "2001: A Space Odyssey" and so eye-catching that both Vogue and Esquire featured it. In 2006, Hamilton decided to rework the ODC-X and came out with another limited-edition timepiece, "X-01." After tremendous positive response to the sequel, Hamilton started brainstorming for the next concept. The new...
We think this gold Longines watch is probably one of the more interesting objects you could own from Albert Einstein. He once said, "the separation between past, present, and future is only an illusion, although a convincing one." Too bad we can't ask him what a real timepiece should look like. If you'd like to own Einstein's personal Swiss wristwatch from 1930, here is...
Ursula Andress (pictured), the original Bond girl, was the former owner of this jeweled Omega ring-watch by Andrew Grima that is up for auction at Omegamania taking place 14-15 April 2007. The force behind the 1969 "About Time" series for Omega, Grima was also a designer of only one-of-a-kind watches including the radically futuristic (for its time) solid gold LEDs originally featured here. This...
In the first of my many previews of the upcoming Omegamania thematic auction by Antiquorum, here are two nicknamed the "Darth Vader" and "Anakin Skywalker," both enormous Seamaster Chronographs produced in 1970 and '71 respectively. With cases so large (51mm), the movements are "suspended" inside between two o-rings allowing maximum shock protection. Part of the "durable metal" collection, the Anakin bezel is bombarded with...
Witty and modern, these latest editions from Projects Watches continue the brand's reputation of making affordable accessories with high design pedigrees. Since 1992, the Michael Graves-founded outfit has been producing timepieces by the likes of Richard Meier, Maya Lin and Cesar Pelli. The Twilight watch, which illustrates the fading light cycle every 20 seconds, comes courtesy of web typography guru Daniel Will-Harris. Using two...
Launching exclusively at vogue Parisian shop Colette next week, the BR 01 Airborne by aviation watch experts Bell & Ross is a chic tribute to U.S. Airborne paratroopers in memory of D-Day. The first to reach a danger zone and the first to go down, the Airborne division of WWII developed the motto "Death from Above," which they conjoined with a skull talisman to...
