Flavours of Lakhoum Coffee Portraits by Lost At E Minor

FlavoursofLakhoumcup.jpg

Look closely at the froth of this latte and you'll see a portrait carved out in the grains and milk. Served at a Richmond café, Flavours of Lakhoum, it's taking the art of coffee to a new level.

Turkish inspired—"Lakhoum" means 'delight' in Turkish—they offer a range of Middle Eastern-inspired foods that get great reviews. In the end, it's the baristas, who can whip up these portraits in around 45 seconds, that draw the crowd. It's almost too nice to drink.

Cochon Butcher
On a recent trip to New Orleans, I had the mouth-watering pleasure of grabbing an early lunch at Cochon Butcher, the meat shop and wine bar opened in January by Cochon chef Donald Link and partner-chefs Stephen Stryjewski and Warren Stephens. Located in the still-burgeoning Warehouse District—home to hotels, galleries and museums—Cochon Butcher makes for an ideal snack stop while exploring the neighborhood's hotspots. Though...
Black Garlic
Asian cuisines have long incorporated Black Garlic, but only more recently has this fermented version of the bulb been commercially available in the U.S. and Britain. Eaten as a snack or used as an ingredient in cooking, it boasts a vinegary sweet flavor and health benefits. After fermenting in clay containers for a month—with no additional ingredients added—the result is a mellower-tasting clove with...
Elke Kramer: Miracles & Wonder
Given that she's one of Australia’s most respected and recognized accessories designers, Elke Kramer's announcement last month that she was branching out into a line of leather bags, scarves and belts is a welcome one. CH caught up with the designer, artist and all-round nice girl to chat about totes, tunes and technical design. You're renowned for bracelets, bangles, pendants and rings. Why did...
Emerald Peacock Bar
Following the success of their Red Hummingbird on Russell Street in Melbourne (famous for its hummingbird wallpaper), the owners recently opened The Emerald Peacock bar and restaurant on Londsdale Street. While I'm sure the food and drink is fantastic, it's the sumptuous interior that's creating all the buzz. It again features signature wallpaper, used as the starting point for the entire design. Each space...
