Luxe New York City Guide by Ami Kealoha

NewYorkSplash.jpg

Luxe, the city guides we love for their pocket-size editions covering the best of where to eat, shop, hang out and sleep in major cities throughout Europe and Asia, is at long last tackling the U.S. starting with New York. Hitting stores this week, the guides follow the same format as their predecessors, trimming down info on hundreds of locations to fit on a single piece of card stock that neatly folds away when not in use. With carefully edited picks and witty commentary at the affordable price of $9 (which makes purchasing yearly-updated editions a no-brainer), we think the formula that made the first 21 guides winners will apply here as well.

Check their site for a list of stores that carry them, including online from Amazon and Flight001.

PSFK Snapshot: San Francisco Bay Area
Unlike the conventional tourist guide, the PSFK Snapshot doesn't aspire to be an exhaustive overview of the city. Instead, it serves as a compendium of what the writers consider the city's most interesting and original aspects. Or as they describe in their inaugural issue, it's "a collection of the most innovative businesses, events, organizations and ideas" that the San Francisco Bay Area has to...
What's Up Buenos Aires?
We've been enjoying Whats Up Buenos Aires? for a little while now and the editorials and hot list have become a must-have resource for those eager to experience the vibrancy of "South America's answer to Paris."...
The Monocle Travel Top Fifty 2007/8
Monocle's Travel Top Fifty, a collection of the editors' best first-hand experiences traveling, is the first in a series of special editions by the publication. The supplement includes tips on the mundane (an airport metro in Denmark) and the fabulous (a personal butler at Hong Kong's Grand Hyatt), as well as on more simple luxuries like a sublime terrace in Zürich. All their highly-subjective...
Hg2 Travel Guides
We're digging the Hg2 series of travel books which take in Paris, London, Rome, Buenos Aires and Miami. The series comes in a half dust jacket (which apparently is meant to be removed once you've settled in to your vacation city), sitting over a Moleskin-like journal chock-full of insidery travel tips. It's fun and informal. A bit like the cities they cover. Hmmm. Now...
