Luxe New York City Guide by Ami Kealoha

NewYorkSplash.jpg

Luxe, the city guides we love for their pocket-size editions covering the best of where to eat, shop, hang out and sleep in major cities throughout Europe and Asia, is at long last tackling the U.S. starting with New York. Hitting stores this week, the guides follow the same format as their predecessors, trimming down info on hundreds of locations to fit on a single piece of card stock that neatly folds away when not in use. With carefully edited picks and witty commentary at the affordable price of $9 (which makes purchasing yearly-updated editions a no-brainer), we think the formula that made the first 21 guides winners will apply here as well.

Check their site for a list of stores that carry them, including online from Amazon and Flight001.

Hg2 Travel Guides
We're digging the Hg2 series of travel books which take in Paris, London, Rome, Buenos Aires and Miami. The series comes in a half dust jacket (which apparently is meant to be removed once you've settled in to your vacation city), sitting over a Moleskin-like journal chock-full of insidery travel tips. It's fun and informal. A bit like the cities they cover. Hmmm. Now...
Luxe European City Guides
Luxe has introduced guides for European cities. With the same first-person, opinionated approach and unique perspective that we loved in their Paris, Madrid, and Istanbul are perfect companions for sophisticated travelers. Packed with information on over 300 bars, restaurants, clubs, spas and cultural activities, each entry bears the publishing editor's personal stamp of approval. Knowing you probably have little interest in visiting the same...
Camp Concierge
Imagine whiling away the afternoon at your lakeside camp in the northern Adirondacks when suddenly you get a hankering for crème brûlée. With a simple phone call, an innovative service based out of Lake Placid can deliver just about anything over land and water. It's called Camp Concierge and it's the brainchild of two young Adirondacker women who understand that escaping the city doesn't...
Le Cool Changed My Life
Like no other guide book you've seen, Le Cool Changed My Life. A Weird And Wonderful Guide To Barcelona didn't quite change my life but it certainly made my trip to Barcelona a lot more fun. The second edition is just out and British editor Andrew sent a few over for us to check out. The small hardbound guide may look like Mao's Little...
