Friends & Co by Ami Kealoha

Like many other New York fashion success stories, Michael Foronda's label Friends & Co started as a side project that ultimately grew into a real-live menswear label. Founded in 2003 as a T-shirt line that incorporated bold typographic treatments of the word "friends," it's expansion to cut-and-sew pieces led to the introduction of Friends & Co, with the help of his friend, Leslie Siu.

Foronda's latest line under the Friends & Co moniker still shows an active interest in graphics but now with more emphasis on craftsmanship. Among the most conservative pieces in the collection and also the most desirable are the cardigan sweaters and sweater vests, subtly adorned with monochromatic elbow patches. This tempered brand of timelessness portends great things for the future of the label, and Foronda continues to look ahead. "I hope to evolve the brand into a more unisex line through collaborations with my wife, Sally Penn," he says. Until that day arrives, we'll button up our cardigan and wait patiently, perfectly content.

Original Fake Two Fingers T-Shirt
A deceivingly funny t-shirt from Kaws using his trademark Mickey Mouse-esque cartoon hands, it just about sums up the complicated set of feelings I have about New York City (and everything else) these days. (Also see Public School's similar expression of dueling emotions.) Available in black and white from We Sold Out for €65. via Highsnobiety...
Patagonia: T-Shirt Exhibition and Footprint Chronicles
Patagonia's recent t-shirt campaign links a young group of designers with the environmentally-conscious clothing company to produce a line of exclusive shirts. Now they're moving closer towards the gallery scene with a group exhibition set to open tomorrow, 29 March 2008, at Patagonia's Santa Monica store. It will include the work of a couple designers previously featured on CH (Jason Munn and Geoff McFetridge),...
Brown Sound Tees
New from Brown Sound, we're totally digging the psychedelic imagery of the "Nose Wheelie" (above left) combining a Yeti on a skateboard with Hibiscus flowers, radiating stripes and Edwardian script. Others that we're considering adding to the collection are "Unkle Kyle," (above center) a line illustration of an overwhelming beard printed over prepster stripes in a green, purple and white colorway. "Sarajevo" (above right)...
