Cool Hunting
Starting next week, WK Interact is bombing Barcelona's Maxalot Gallery inside and out. His black and white figures will adorn gallery walls, doors and the street outside from 21 May–23 June 2007.
Limited screen–prints, new mixed media paintings (right) and an outdoor triptych piece will be on display. The exhibition will also feature an installation of the artist's outfit and "guerrilla gear" used when putting up his artwork throughout different cities (below right). In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see some new impromptu pieces on Barcelona's city walls since the artist was in town. Keep an eye out and let us know if you see anything.
Also, check out his recent collaboration with Kobe Bryant and Nike here along with a video of the artist in action here.

by Ariston Anderson Street artist Banksy makes breaking the rules an artform, but his current exhibit, a legal installation of over 100 pieces at Bristol's City Museum & Art Gallery is surprising even his closest followers. Playing on earlier covert stunts that targeted the Tate and MoMA, in an unusual reversal, this time the institution welcomes the anonymous artist with open arms for his...
by Ariston Anderson In Chris Stain's first solo show, he brings a gritty New York rooftop to L.A.'s Carmichael Gallery, complete with a live pigeon coop. The Baltimore native builds his vision of inner city life through large-scale stencil installation as well as found objects. Stain comments, "my work explores the emotional and physical struggle of growing up in an urban environment. Through hand-cut stencils...
by Ariston Anderson Herbert Baglione is one of Brazil's most provocative exports, currently bringing his humanistic paintings to a new show in London. Baglione got his start as a street artist, painting huge figures onto the sidewalks and intersections of São Paulo throughout the '90s, but has since taken only to the galleries drawing on his street background. His latest work, "Two Broken Knees," projects...
by Ariston Anderson For London street art fans, the must see-show this week is Faile's "Lost in Glimmering Shadows," as they bring their inimitable prints and paintings across the Atlantic. The art collective's London show last year, "From Brooklyn with Love," sold out instantly, and led to an invitation from the TATE Modern Gallery to invite them to paint their exterior this past May. This...
by Ariston Anderson Like many post-industrial cities in America, a loss of factory jobs in Braddock, Pennsylvania has led to urban flight. Calling themselves Transformazium, artists Erin Harrell, Dana Bishop-Root, Ruthie Stringer and Leslie Stem along with Swoon are intent upon setting up a shop in a city that needs it most. Their goal is to "use the creative process and locally identified resources to...
by Ariston Anderson The last time street artist Bansky did a piece in New York, it was a small painting of a cheap can of soup—his tribute to Andy Warhol—that he smuggled onto a gallery wall at the MoMa. As you might have already seen, Banksy recently put up three giant billboards in the Big Apple. All depicting the NYC mascot, one rat sports...
