SimulScribe, the brilliant and simple voicemail service that transcribes your messages into an email (20 November 2006) has just launched a new application that beats Apple to visual voicemail. SimulSays, released today, is a downloadable application for your BlackBerry Pearl or 8800 that shows your transcribed messages and lets you play them back without having to dial in. Even better, you can easily reply to a voicemail using SMS or Email if the message is from someone in your address book. I've been testing it for a few weeks now and find it indispensable!
Existing SimulScribe users can download SimulSays by pointing their mobile phone's browser to mobile.simulscribe.com. If you're not a customer, just go to simulsays.com to sign-up.
If you're not on the Pearl or 8800, don't worry. SimulScribe plans to roll out SimulSays for other devices soon, starting with Windows Mobile in June.

I still believe that Dodgeball's time...

Simple tools are always the best way to accomplish simple tasks. Such is the case with my new favorite multi-platform app, Shifd. It's basically a really easy way to capture and view notes, places and links from your mobile phone, web browser or computer desktop. I most often use it for mobile notes-to-self; whenever I need to capture a name, place, task or thought...
First introduced a few years back by a couple of ITP (Interactive Telecommunications Program) students, the cleverly named Socialight, a free service using social networking to deliver localized info to your mobile phone, launched in London today. Like a combination of Dodgeball and Google 411, The service works by geo-tagging places with "stickies" that list the particulars of a favorite bar (for instance), which...
