Cool Hunting

Pointer, a small shoe company started by ex-members of Silas, Carhartt and Blueprint Skateboards, recently dropped their new line of spring and summer shoes. The designs are an elusive blend of understated style, equally fit for business or casual settings.
A mid-top, the Mathieson (above left) consists of a durable nubuck upper and vulcanized soles with copper eyelets and black-on-black criss-cross stitching adding subtle but stylish detail. The Debaser Canvas (above right) features brightly colored detail stitching but maintains its sleek and clean style by keeping a slim profile. Made of heavy canvas with wide gauge stitching around the toe it is a durable and classic design.
The Spring/Summer Pointer line is currently available at The Glade starting at €50.

The Generic Man's All Things Generic pop-up store, housed inside Space 1520 (Urban Outfitter's concept mini-mall for indie labels in Hollywood), is anything but generic. Launching officially on 13 June 2009 and open until the first week of July, the L.A.-based label's dress and casual shoes under the Generic Man and Generic Surplus labels are elegant, stylish and the focus of the temporary boutique....
by Laura Neilson More than twenty years after their original collaboration, Converse is high-fiving with Original Jams once again for a small—but definitely noticeable—Spring '09 collection. To celebrate the collaboration-slash-reunion, Converse will debut an exact replica of its Original Jams Skidgrip mid-shoe. As an awesome flashback to the surf and skate scene of the 1980s, the shoe comes decked out in an acid-hued zig-zaggy print,...
With the winter season just around the corner, last night's debut of Timberland's new line of boots aptly named the Abington Collection — Timberland was originally named The Abington Shoe Company — at Alife Rivington Club comes just in time. The three new models are all cut from the famous leathers of Horween Leather Company out of Chicago, who've been in business for more...
Here's a little peek of what's to come from The Generic Man this fall courtesy of Arktip. The upcoming line looks as if it's made from recycled clothing—most likely Boy Scout or military clothing. There's not much information on this yet, but the recycled cotton outer adds a casual, rough-hewn look. Dark brown laces contrasted with tan is always complimentary and the plaid inner...
Dubbed "Hybrid Footwear," Keen's shoe line has a clear emphasis on sustainability. The Ventura Canvas reflects this philosophy, while maintaining a classic, casual sneaker design. Their first completely vegan shoe, the canvas upper uses organic cotton and recycled aluminum eyelets. Like the rest of Keen's line, the Ventura makes comfort a high priority. The removable metatomical footbed—made from jute, cork and natural latex—helps mold...
