OrganisMuseum

by Tim Yu

organismuseum.jpg

Getting closer to the experience of an actual museum, OrganisMuseum is the first online virtual art gallery in 3D. By using directional arrows and cursor you are able to "walk" around the museum's three stories to view photographic works. Clicking on the photos takes you directly in front of the image for a straight-on view where you can select different image qualities.

The current exhibit features 22 unique portraits by Andrzej Dragan called "Portraits 2004-2006." You can also visit the exhibition archives including works by Gianmarco Chieregato and photojournalist Ami Vitale.

Compatible with both Mac and PC formats, visit the gallery to download the 3D Life Player plug-in, which is necessary in order to enter the online exhibits. Give it a try here.

Branding Kate Moss

by SummerSeventySix

katemoss1.jpgkatemoss.jpg

Love her or hate her, brand Kate Moss is about to blow up even bigger. Perhaps more interesting than the forthcoming Topshop line of clothes, though, is the story behind her new brand identity (above). You can read how the seminal Peter Saville linked up with typographer Paul Barnes to create it in a great little article over at Creative Review.

Keren Richter: The Yellow Wallpaper

by Letizia Rossi

kerenrichterflyer.jpg

"The Yellow Wallpaper," a solo show featuring new paintings by Keren Richter opens tonight, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 at Cake Shop in New York City.

At 25, Richter has already earned a name for herself with her line drawings of creepy-cute mod girls and ethereal dreamscapes, landing illustration work for magazines such as Bust, Heeb, YM, Jane and Nylon, as well as creating rock posters for the likes of The Go-Gos and Lil' Pocketknife, animations for MTV and a music video for The Joggers. As an artist for L.A.-based fashion line Blood is the New Black, she has designed t-shirts and tote bags featuring her signature "dirty nurse" characters, as well as a delicate antique lace design (made using scans of old doilies), an edgy gang sign drawing and an artful woodgrain pattern.

Maturing from the girlish themes of her previous work, Richter's latest works evoke a the sincere sexuality of pre-photoshop pornography. Hand-painted enamel tiles feature patterns inspired by Islamic patterns and sixties Scandinavian textile design to create a patchwork quilt that compliment her "Dirty Birdies" series of female nudes inspired by vintage girlie magazines and blue films. See more images here.

The reception also features Brooklyn-based bands Dynasty Handbag and Dreamburger.

La Blogothèque's Concerts à Emporter

by Evan Orensten

concertsaemporter.jpg

La Blogothèque's Concerts à emporter (Take-Away Shows) are a collection of live, unedited videos of musicians playing in unusual settings. The artists' unpredictable interaction with the environment and the reactions of often clueless bystanders result in a genius blend of music video and reality TV.

With a sharp eye for incorporating improvised performances into unexpected spaces, director Vincent Moon creates and captures moments that appear natural and effortless, even ordinary or commonplace. It's as if we're being let in on a secret that all around us everyday life is infused with spontaneous musicality.

If only we'd have the good fortune to stumble upon the right bar, turn down a certain dark alley early in the morning, or catch the right bus downtown.

The site is available in French and English.

Featuring painted canvas, sculpture and hand printed t-shirts, the exhibition runs from at Sydney's China Heights Gallery in Surry Hills.
