Music Giveaway
by Tim Yu
For our beloved CH readers we have one more giveaway this week. From the stack of CD's on Ami's desk, we've chosen 8 new albums that have been on rotation at the office lately. Six of the following are available for the giveaway but two of them won't be out until this Summer. Follow the contact link at the bottom of the page, select "Music Giveaway" from the pull-down menu and send us a message before this Tuesday, 17 April 2007, 11:59pm EST. We'll chose a winner at random from the submissions.

Fabriclive.33 by Spank Rock is another great mash up, mix down, remix album of some party favorites you know and some you don't (above left).
Miguel Migs successfully blends electronic music with live instrumentation in Those Things. Horns and hand drums are sprinkled throughout, texturizing repetitive synthy electronic beats (above center).
Precise beats complemented by celestial backgrounds ground Nymph's digitized voice in Geek Pop Star (above right).
Fluttery trumpets and saxophones mix with trip-hop and electronic samples to form a cohesive blend of diverse musical disciplines in Our Theory by Nublu quintet, Ersahin Truffaz Madsen Rueckert Penman (above left).
The Secret Handshake is an electronic indie blend of pop music that is sure to climb the charts. Our favorite track is the Spank Rock remix on the title track Summer of 98 (above center).
My favorite from this group is the new LCD soundsystem, Sound of Silver. Driving beats coupled with witty lyrics and surprisingly good vocals come together in his best record to date. Stay tuned for a Cool Hunting video on LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy, currently in the works (above right).
DJ Jazzy Jeff's, The Return Of The Magnificent, features guests like CL Smooth, Big Daddy Kane, Method Man and J Live among others. Jeff, the first hip-hop producer to win a grammy, calls this latest effort his best ever. Not out until late May 2007 (left).
Due out in the Summer 2007, Dj Kicks brings together Etta James and Ray Charles along side Positive K, New Order and others in Hot Chip, an eclectic but great album (right).
VIZcap
by Tim Yu
In response to underperforming health, sports, and medicinal drinks that lose potency as they sit on shelves, VIZcap is a new technology that releases vitamins, minerals and other supplements into the water at the time of consumption making for a more effective and potent beverage.
The patent pending design is a twist-top consisting of an air-tight chamber which houses the supplements, and a plunger that releases them prior to drinking. The design lends itself to a variety of possibilities for use in the beverage market, including effervescent drinks like Airborne and Alka-Seltzer, or even baby formula.
An additional benefit is that thinner bottles can be used as shelf life is less of a concern. VIZcap's bottles reduce plastic content by a substantial 25%.
VizCap is still in advanced prototype stages and there is no current release date, but expect to see VIZcaps on your favorite beverages sometime soon. For more info and to see a video on how it works visit VIZcap.
Feiyue Plimsolls
by SummerSeventySix
Chucks are beyond ubiquitous aren't they? In London, even the anti-Converse, non-branded, army surplus training shoe is everywhere these days, so what's next? Chinese brand Feiyue looks the most likely over the summer. They've been made in Shanghai since 1920 and have been worn by everyone from politicians to Shaolin masters. Apt, as the brand-name means "flying forward." They are incredibly comfortable to wear.
The original Shaolin Soul shoe (top left) is going for around £40 in a handful of London stores at the moment. You can also get them direct from Feiyue's online shop for €50 plus postage. However, there are specialist martial arts stores out there selling them for as little as $18. [Eds. note: Feiyue wrote us to tell us that those are fakes.] Seek them out, Grasshopper.
Santa Muerte Summer 2007: Renegados
by Josh Rubin
While often accredited to '80s punk nostalgia, the lingering obsession with skulls in fashion also owes a debt to Mexico's Dia de los Muertos traditions.
It's that Mexican heritage that fuels Santa Muerte's latest line of tees and jackets. Their summer 2007 collection is called Renegados, and features motifs like snakes, Frida Kahlo, religious icons, Aztec headdresses and Zapatistas. The designs stay coherent with symmetry and are some of the least played we've seen.
To see the collection and find out where you can find their products visit the Sata Muerte site.
