Solatube by Tim Yu
Solatube improves on the idea of using solar power for lighting, but unlike often outdated and ineffectual skylights, Solatube has the ability to light interiors not directly connected to the outdoors. That means that your dark closets, dimly lit bathrooms, windowless room, or basement apartments are capable of receiving natural light. This is accomplished by sunlight being transported through a highly reflective tube into interiors with minimal energy loss. Not only is the device eco-friendly, the dome-shaped lens is able to take in light at any time of day. For more info and to see a short video on how it works visit Solatube.

Vetrazzo: Recycled Glass Surfaces
Ever think that the bottle of ale you had last night could later be used as building material? Using only recycled glass—most of which comes from curbside recycling programs—Vetrazzo brilliantly transforms repurposed glass into artful surfaces for use as countertops or tile. A sustainable alternative to granite, quartz and other quarried stone standards, Vetrazzo's variety is just as strong and durable but easier to...

Kor One Water Vessel
The Kor One Hydration Vessel elevates the humble water bottle to new aesthetic and functional levels. Forget Voss, Smart Water, and Jeff. Face it, we need privatized bottled water like we need more internal combustion engines on our freeways. Getting people off the bottled water habit is no small feat though. City dwellers in particular, relish the convenience of a deli-bought bottle, preferring to...

Noon Solar Bags
When I first stumbled upon Noon Solar bags at the Museum of Arts and Design exhibit Beyond Green in 2006, these innovative solar accessories were in the early stages of development—in need of a little refinement and perhaps some venture capital. Fast-forward two years and Noon Solar has become a stellar brand with bags befitting Fifth Avenue and downtown alike. Apart from the ability...

Early Future Lamp by Ingo Maurer
Here at CH we think every day should be Earth Day, but we also think 38-year-old holiday deserves honoring as a way to single out projects and products that keep the environment in mind. Today we'll be bringing you the best of the eco-web, as well as a few of our own finds. The first of its kind to use organic LEDs (OLEDs), Ingo...

Green Home LED Christmas Lights
We like a good Christmas light job as much as the next person, but there are always concerns about energy consumption and the like. Green Home, a pioneering outfit that's run out of a basement in San Francisco's working-class Richmond District, offers a good array of LED Christmas lights that saves energy (and money). Bulbs are available in both traditional (starting at $12.50) and...
