Alexandre Herchcovitch Sneakers by Ami Kealoha
At the Alexandre Herchcovitch show at São Paulo Fashion Week, the diamond patterns, gold and fluorescent hues he used on sneakers caught my eye. After the successful show, while everyone swarmed the designer backstage, I was able to get a few pics of the hi-tops as they were being put away (click images for detail). While I don't know much about them except that they're a collaboration with Sugar Shoes, I did manage to take a picture of the shoes Herchcovitch was wearing himself that featured diamond-shaped studs, like other pieces in the collection. Check them out here.

Oestudio Sneakers
Over the course of São Paulo's recent fashion week the name Oestudio kept showing up on t-shirt tags, runways and at Surface To Air's new store. The boutique carries Oestudio's hi- and lo-tops that all balance a youthful look with stylish detailing and a distinctly Brazilian flair. Well thought out design, like thin round laces and nearly double the amount of eyelets on most...

Daniela Thomas and Felipe Tassara Architecture at São Paulo Fashion Week
I'm in São Paulo on behalf of Motorola for São Paulo Fashion Week (SPFW), which takes place in Oscar Niemeyer's modernist Bienal building. Second only to his design (see his central sweeping spiral ramp here), the temporary cardboard walls form functional and beautiful spaces within the building. Designed by São Paulo architects Daniela Thomas (renowned for her stage design) and Felipe Tassara, their aim...

To Darrin Hudson, From Jeff Staple
Jeff Staple is the creative force behind Staple Design and The Reed Space, both of which marry urban culture and fantastic design. One of his strongest focal points is footwear, Sneakers specifically. On his new blog, To Darrin Hudson, Jeff is cataloging (and selling) his shoe collection one-by-one-- not just for the sake of doing it, but also as the ultimate one-up to his...
