Aga John Patchwork Rug by Ami Kealoha

Bravotopdesign

Thanks to our recent sponsor Bravo, we were able to get the scoop on the patchwork rug from Erik Kolacz' winning design in last night's episode of the new show Top Design. Handmade in Izmir, Turkey, the 5'9" x 7'9" rug features geometric pieces of brown and white cow hides in an asymmetrical pattern finished with a leather chain-stitch and retails for $2400. Other than the perfect floor covering for Kolacz' "Pirate Hideout," the unconventional piece adds modern shapes and a masculine edge to a space. See a product shot here here and contact Aga John's Pacific Coast Design Center location for more info.

Ísbjörn / Ice Bear Rug
This imitation polar bear-skin rug is designed by Reykjavik-based designer Sruli Recht for Birkiland. Limited to a single run of 10, the Ice Bear is not just the cute-and-cuddly accessory it appears. The designer hopes to pack a dose of symbolism into the classic man-over-beast accessory. Cobbled together from 15 different Icelandic sheepskins, it's meant to resemble the classic butcher's diagram poster that labels...
Gino the Dog Collection: Design for Pets
by Laurice Parkin Fans of Gaia & Gino, the Turkish company known for its quirky, luxe design objects, may not know that Gino is actually of the canine four-legged variety. So, it's only fitting that Gino, the beloved Golden Retriever of founder Gaye Cevikel (aka Gaia), has a say in the company's latest collection. Simply titled "Gino the Dog", the line's first collection melds form...
Pebble Carpet and Long Life Light
Generally, I resent being tricked by household objects masquerading as something they're not. That said, I'm hard pressed to get mad at this unassuming pile of stones. What appears to be solid rock is actually a cushioned wool rug. Each "stone" of the Pebble Carpet is hand-crafted of merino wool and attached with an internal cord. Designed by Ronel Jordaan in Johannesberg, South Africa,...
Drop Dead Rug
Inspired by old crime TV, the Drop Dead Rug prototype by British designer Alex Carpenter was such a hit at the London Design Festival in 2005 that Alex will take it into production soon. Mimicking the shape "of an unfortunate soul which may have come to pass right there on your living room floor with their silhouette remaining as evidence," the throw will be...
