Cool Hunting

Networked Nature, a group exhibition at Foxy Production, curated by Rhizome, explores the representation of nature through the perspective of networked culture. The featured works harness innovative technology, such as global positioning systems (GPS), robotics, and hydroponic environments.

Whether the conceptually interesting Photosynthesis Robot, by the SF Bay Area's FutureFarmers, actually works, is perhaps beside the point. A witty take on the pressing search for new forms of energy, it is described as "a three-dimensional model of a possible perpetual motion machine driven by phototropism" (the movement of plants towards the sun), proposing that perhaps a group of plants will very slowly propel a four-wheel vehicle.

The exhibition runs 11 January-18 February 2007 and will tour to the Warehouse Gallery in Syracuse, New York next.
