LED Loom Lamp by Josh Rubin

Loomlamp2

The first in a line of "organic technology" products, this LED Loom Lamp from Brooklyn based Lwindesign studio weaves reddish branches of Ash coppice around a ring of white LEDs. Casting shadows on surrounding walls and adding a touch of nature to interiors, the lamp uses a traditional weave. The organic materials (part of Lwin's aim to integrate local forestry into his work) are an understated contrast to hi-tech lighting elements. Like his lamps made from repurposed laundry detergent bottles and his Biotube bench, with the energy-saving features of LEDs and sustainably harvested wood, it's an eco-conscious solution as well. A small booth headed up by a woman as nice as her creations are clever, Keep It Moving Design sells knit plants. Each hand-knit specimen comes in a pot with its own name. Today we'll be bringing you the best of the eco-web, as well as a few of our own finds. The first of its kind to use organic LEDs (OLEDs), Ingo...
Stephen Burks: Cappellini Love
Yesterday at the Fiera Milano, walking through the sprawling campus of the supergroup Poltrona Frau, I ran into the New York designer Stephen Burks, who took a moment to chat with me about his new line of eco-conscious ware for Italian manufacturer Cappellini. Called Cappellini Love, the collection is comprised of a series of vases and bowls made from glass fragments, and a small...
Rise and Fall Floral Love Pillow
Just in time for Valentine's Day, Cool Hunting favorites Rise and Fall created a romantic heart-shaped pillow that wouldn't be complete without their hint of macabre. The Brooklyn-based design collective designed this black and white floral print with skulls cleverly hidden into the pattern (click on image for detailed view). Made by hand, the pillow fits in nicely with Rise and Fall's other efforts...
