Anuschka Hoevener by Ami Kealoha
Thanks to the connection to Berlin that Project No. 8 co-owner Elizabeth Beer has (she's a partner at Arratia, Beer gallery there), the shop has a selection of some of the best Berlin lines. In addition to Schiesser, Kwik Shop and Bless, they carry Anuschka Hoevener, a designer who often incorporates sculptural volume into her work, though not in the usual puffed sleeve kind of way. The assymetrical petal-like collars of this shirt ($138) and necklace ($60), for instance, are weighted with small plastic beads, giving it a rounded shape that stays put. Contact Project No. 8 by phone (+01 212 925 5599) to order.

Good things come in small packages, so great things must come from what has to be the smallest store in NYC, Laura Lobdell's jewelry store in the West Village, which opened last week. I'm a longtime fan of her found object-based designs and with the store's large assortment of playful and quotidian jewelry makes it easy to find the right gift for anyone. Perfect for...

In God We Trust Boutique
SoHo's latest additon, In God We Trust, opened 1 May 2007, and perfectly translates the curiosity/antique shop essence of its Brooklyn predecessor. Closet-like racks bear clothes and accessories by Ritten House, Shennan, Kristen Coates, Beard and Bangs, Harvey Hats, M. Carter, and Shara Porter—designers with a homespun aesthetic much like the In God We Trust label. And as for the much–loved In God We...

Blue Gear Works Jewelry
While walking in Soho the other day, I came across a fabulous antique-chic jewelry stand helmed by New York based artist Blue Bayer. Blue uses found objects such as gears, clocks, lockets, spoons and evil eyes to create Victorian, steam punk-style jewelry in his Lower East Side studio/gallery/shop called Blue Gear Works. With each unique piece, he prides himself on exquisite craftsmanship using classic...

Leviticus Jewelry
by Ariston Anderson Up and coming jewelry designer Tara Levitin's vintage-inspired collection, Leviticus Jewelry is an eccentric mix of old badges, trophy-like medals and precious stones strung on varying chain lengths for an old-time feeling with a modern twist.
