Suck UK Sun Jar by SummerSeventySix

sunjar.jpg

I'll admit that Suck UK can be a little bit hit and miss with its creations, but I think the Sun Jar is spot on. Using a solar cell, battery and LEDs, it effectively collects sunlight during the day so you can use it at night. Simple and effective, with the bonus of being eco-friendly, the Sun Jar costs around £20.

Pineapple Paper Furniture
Establishment (an interior design outpost in Manhattan) recently tipped us to Pineapple Paper Furniture, a new line of benches and chairs made from compressed pineapple fibers. We like the Doonya Chair (pictured above right, $1,900) as well as the Nut Bench (pictured after the jump, $2,900). They hadn't been added to the website last time we checked, but you can email Establishment directly: info...
Dopie Sandals
Here's something to brighten up your feet as you move towards summer. This strange-looking colorful footwear looks like the born-again sole of a Nike Air Rift sneaker. In fact, the Dopie sandal is a collaboration between industrial designer Matthew Harrison and the eco-friendly shoe company Terra Plana. Developed over two years, the Dopie is the result of the search for a "sandal in a...
EcoForms
Though East Coasters are currently experiencing a strangely warm winter, we're already fantasizing about spring planting. For an eco-friendly alternative to plastic with a no-frills look, EcoForms are made from compressed grain husks with natural, water-soluble binding agents. No pollutants are used in the manufacturing process, all byproducts are recycled and at the end of their five-year lifespan, EcoForms will biodegrade completely. Made to...
Trees For the Future
Trees For the Future (TFF) works with local communities to help reforest degraded lands and teaching local people agroforestry—how to grow, plant and tend to trees. The trees minimize soil erosion, provide foliage for animals and fuel-wood for the people. TFF also creates income generating schemes by helping communities produce timber and non-timber forest products. For a work associate, your crunchy environmentalist cousin, or...
