ITP Winter Show 2006 by Ami Kealoha
With winter in New York comes a fresh crop of the tech-based creativity coming out of NYU's ITP (Interactive Telecommunications Program). CH's looking forward to attending the ITP Winter Show 2006 to check out the wildly inventive projects like Kyung-Mi Kim's synaesthesia-based AV Brush, a device that interfaces with your body to help you relax by Sandra Villareal and Bio Manhattan, a group project that proposes covering Manhattan with genetically-modified Ferns. The show opens this Sunday, 17 December 2006, and will be up through Monday, 18 December 2006.

Absolut Machines: Absolut Quartet
Absolut Machines is Absolut's promotional initiative that explores where technology meets design in the form of two "machines." Last night we got to check out one, the Absolut Quartet, an interactive multi-instrumental robotic machine. It consists of a marimba played by rubber balls precisely shot from a robotic cannon, a series of spinning wineglasses dampened by robotic fingers and an array of percussive instruments....

Inspired by repeating visual units in Japanese textile design Voiceprints, created by Pierre Proske, uses specially-designed software to translate voice patterns into a design. More specifically, Proske loops and analyzes frequencies to create an algorithm that organizes visual elements into a representation of a person's voice. Dalek and Mars-1 at Jonathan LeVine Gallery
Brooklyn-based artist, Dalek (James Marshall) and San Francisco-based Mars-1 (Mario Martinez) held a joint opening at New York's Jonathan LeVine Gallery this past weekend in a West side/East coast clash of sorts.
