3:34 of London

by m ss ng p eces

On CH's recent London trip, we visited the studios of artist Dodi Wexler, design collective Troika and Social Suicide, the very forward men's fashion label. From Troika's tech-enabled activism to Dodi's "little worlds" and Social Suicide's pairing of irreverence with traditional English tailoring, we found that London, and each specific neighborhood, has everything to do with what these artists and designers do and their creative process. Episode 58 is a glimpse of London today—or at least as much of this massive city as you can fit into 3:34.

by Letizia Rossi

PU_Cover_small.jpg

Tropolism has been highlighting their favorite architectural magazines this week. Among the best (and a great gift to surprise the favorite architect on your list) is PIN-UP, a brand-new magazine that plays with the idea of architecture as eye candy and aims to go "behind the clothes" of architects to figure out what makes them tick. PIN-UP features articles on Jurgen Mayer H., Zaha Hadid, Winka, and Charles Renfro. For more information see Tropolism.

Vitamin Living Powder Seat

by Leonora Oppenheim

powderSeatcu.jpg PowderSeatTrident.jpg

You chose that board as much for the beautiful graphics as for its ability to carve up powder, right? So this is for those boarders who get really sad when they have to put their board away after getting home from the slopes. Vitamin Living’s Powder Seat is a great way to display your board all the year round, not to mention a space-saving way to store it during off-season. The Powder Seat is simply a base that suckers onto the underside of the board making it into a sturdy seat. There are two different base designs available, the Trident, with two sleek metal tripod legs (pictured), or the Blade, which is a streamlined single metal structure. £99 from Vitamin Living.

Steve Powers: You and Me Print

by Wendy Dembo

puzzleparadise.jpg

Perhaps you didn’t have a chance to check out Steve Powers' Street Art show on the corner of West Broadway and Prince Street last month. The artist, graffiti writer and book author sometimes known as ESPO had a sale of his art on the street along with all the other vendors. His “booth” was between the hot dog and scarf stands. You can’t get much more street than that! He still has a few prints left, including “You and Me” (pictured) and “Puzzle,” both limited editions of 50 that cost $1,000 each. Order from his site before 20 December 2006 to get them in time for the Christmas—a perfect gift for the graffiti aficcionado.
