Thunderpants by Leonora Oppenheim

"They won’t go up your bum!" claims the New Zealand comfy-yet-cute underwear company Thunderpants. Started in 1995 by a couple of girls who were—in their own words—"frustrated by an undie market which either had us squirming all day in wee lace numbers or flopping about in sexless granny bloomers," they designed what they term their "ideal undie." These colorful, well-cut knickers, made from a blend of 92% cotton and 8% lycra, are printed with original wood block graphics. We love the whimsical patterns featuring rodeo cowboys, workman's tools and artichokes, to name a few. (See more here.) Available in children's and men's sizes as well, all styles pictured are hipsters (click for detail), which start at NZ$25 from Thunderpants.

I am...accessories
As the search for thoughtful Mother's Day gifts heats up this week, I am...accessories provide a fashionable solution. The Angry nameplate necklace allows women to reply to those who ask that they're angry that breast cancer is still a huge and growing problem among women around the world, while proceeds from the jewelry, available in sterling, gold plate, and 14kt gold, go to the...
Welcome Squid Overlords
Take me to your leader. Monday night I heard the most esteemed and funny neurologist Oliver Sacks speak at Columbia (he is a super naturalist: into ferns, squids, cuttlefish and stereopsis). It was a fascinating lecture, but his Welcome Squid Overlords shirt transfixed me. It was so strange, I had to find its meaning. Was it from an episode of Star Wars that I...
Low Tee Bathing Suits
Low Tee makes men's bathing suits from vintage t-shirts (props for recycling). The suits are fully lined in Lycra, and have elastic around the legs and waist, which also has a drawstring. Because the suits are made from vintage t-shirts they are all one-of-a-kind (which we also like). And if you ask nicely you could probably send in one of your own shirts to...
Shaun White for Target
A couple weeks after watching him tear up the half pipe at the U.S. Open, I got the chance to meet with Shaun White for the first unveiling of his new line for Target due out this Fall. Shaun and his brother, Jesse, both super nice California natives, collaborate on all design projects including the White Collection for Burton. The same goes for the...
