Cool Hunting
New York's West Village has just gotten a sartorial upgrade, English style, with the recent opening of the first Oliver Spencer boutique in the US. The boutique is a joint venture between Spencer and the team behind New York's hip Odin boutiques.
For over a decade, English gents and international superstars have had the privilege of donning Spencer's sleek, modern look. Now his latest line of menswear is finally available on this side of the pond. The store's design is a direct extension of the collection's unique aesthetic combining traditional English craftsmanship with minimal 21st century silhouettes and trends. Spencer himself hopes to teach American men to be more adventurous and embrace their dormant dandyism by embracing an eclectic theme for their wardrobes rather than choosing pieces that all come from the same label. To that end, the store also carries some vintage mail bags, several English brands found exclusively in the U.S. like Linda Farrow sunglasses, Bill Amberg leather bags and Folk Shoes, as well as clothing from Nice Collective, Rogues Gallery, Rag and Bone and Engineered Garments. More pictures after the jump.

If you didn't know that ACNE stands for "Ambition to Create Novel Expressions," than you also proabably weren't aware that the Swedish label is a multi-disciplinary company consisting of much more than impeccably cut jeans in amazing fabrics. With films, furniture design, architecture and their own world-class publication, it's lifestyle branding that we can actually get behind. Opened yesterday in New York City, their...
By Christina PanasJust five years after opening their flagship Williamsburg boutique, and on the heels of a Park Slope outpost, Oak co-owners Louis Terline and Jeff Madalena are making that first East River crossing with sleek new digs in NoLita, a shop that opens officially on Monday. "It happened quickly," says Terline, when asked how long the latest store had been in the works. "This...
For you New Yorkers who have been sneaking into the Moma store to get your Japanese minimalist design fixes or stocking up when abroad, your time has come. The full-blown Muji experience is opening in New York on Friday, 16 November 2007, in Soho. For many this will be a dream come true. For others it will be a new adventure into the land...
With the recent drop in temperature I've been looking for some Fall gear. We already told you about dREALM and 38 Regular, a small shop in the East Village section of New York that hand-stitches all their pieces in the city, often right in the back of their small shop. It's a destination for finding truly original and high quality items that are sure...
Two new boutiques recently broke ground on the Lower East Side. Williamsburg antiques dealers Moon Rhee and designer Hey Ja Do were bored with the typical local vintage store fare. Now, their newly opened DEAR:55 on Clinton Street with its gleaming spaceship white glow, offers a modern twist on the norm. Inside the alabaster space is a meticulous selection of vintage and current collections,...
SoHo's latest additon, In God We Trust, opened 1 May 2007, and perfectly translates the curiosity/antique shop essence of its Brooklyn predecessor. Closet-like racks bear clothes and accessories by Ritten House, Shennan, Kristen Coates, Beard and Bangs, Harvey Hats, M. Carter, and Shara Porter—designers with a homespun aesthetic much like the In God We Trust label. And as for the much–loved In God We...
