Lily Allen Heads Up by SummerSeventySix

Lilyallensingle

Just a quick heads-up for American readers: Smile by Lily Allen, who we wrote about back in April and who last month made her live stateside debut, is this week's Free Download on the U.S. iTunes Store. A gently-skanking tale of being dumped, the tune was popular in the U.K. over the summer, and serves as a decent introduction to the talented Londoner.

Charles Cumming: The 21 Steps
"The 21 Steps" is a fast-paced, finely-tuned thriller that uses Google Maps to take the reader through the story's events. Written by British purveyor of spy thrillers, Charles Cumming, the story is told through Google's information bubbles with brief statements and images that take the reader from the streets of London to Edinburgh, Scotland with plenty of action and mini-cliffhangers along the way. The result is a collection of new faves and old jams, both up-tempo and down, to get you through the leap year. Magnetic Fields: Distortion The first album from...
AnOther Magazine Spring/Summer 2008: The Insiders
We were fortunate enough to get a sneak preview of the latest edition of AnOther Magazine, which as per usual is chock full of the stunning photography and clever editorial that always makes the book our go-to resource to find out what's happening across the pond. From the stunning cover featuring Uma Thurman bedecked with a dramatic butterfly wing to an interview with cheeky YBAs...
The Heavy: Great Vengeance and Furious Fire
By happy accident I recently caught the amazing sounds of The Heavy on a BBC radio live session and almost had to stop the car for fear of crashing with the thrill of it. Incredibly rich, funky and, well, appropriately heavy music; the lead singer's voice could melt your insides. Although musical comparisons are often crass, you can't help but hear echoes of Curtis...
