Cool Hunting

With Polartec high-tech fabric and iPod integration, Westcomb's new iRebel jackets and hoodies are perfect for active people, whether on the slopes or on the subway. Coming out January 2007, the iRebel features an interior iPod pocket, which connects to integrated soft switch controls on the sleeve. The Polartec Wind Pro Fabric makes the iRebel four times more wind resistant than traditional fleece and the water-repellant surface sheds water and snow—yet since the coating on the fabric is not a laminate, it remains breathable. The iRebel's slim profile makes them perfect for layering and zippered pockets, long sleeves with cut-out thumb holes and—unlike some of the other wearable technology outerwear we've come across—Westcomb women's sizes actually cut to fit a woman's smaller frame are all welcome details.
The iRebel Jacket ($225) and the iRebel Hoody ($235) and will be available in various colors at Boulder Mountaineering and Back Country.

A couple weeks after watching him tear up the half pipe at the U.S. Open, I got the chance to meet with Shaun White for the first unveiling of his new line for Target due out this Fall. Shaun and his brother, Jesse, both super nice California natives, collaborate on all design projects including the White Collection for Burton. The same goes for the...
No matter the conditions, the limited edition Zeal Optics Link Spherical goggles I tried out this past weekend will have you covered. New for 2008, they feature the world's first polarized and photochromatic lens. Polarization allows for increased clarity and depth perception, but the lens also changes the level of opacity depending on the light and time of day, adapting to low light and...
Founded by pro snowboarders Kale Stephens and Chris Brown, Airhole Ninja Masks are designed to keep you warm during all your outdoor winter activities, whether snowboarding, skiing or snowshoeing. They use innovative functional materials, unique form-fitting patterns, and the most groundbreaking concept of all—a hole that you can breathe through! The upshot is an accessory that's as menacing as full-face masks but without the...
I used to make fun of people who wore denim on the slopes, but Burton recently made it more functional with this first edition Gore-Tex LTD Grail Denim Jacket and Pant.Denim alone is probably the worst thing you could wear in cold and wet conditions, however an exclusive collaboration with Gore-Tex gives Burton the sole rights for two years to use their technology that...
For extreme sports types or those who just like to take every precaution, Swiss company Snowpulse developed Lifebag. Like an airbag, it's designed to protect the head and thorax while keeping you afloat during an avalanche. Manually deployed similar to a parachute, the 150-liter shield inflates in less than three seconds and deflates after 90 seconds. Should you get buried, when the bag deflates...
