Factory Records: The Complete Graphic Album by Wendy Dembo
During its heyday in the 80's, Factory Records worked with some of the most brilliant graphic artists around, including Peter Saville, Den Kelly, Mark Farrow, 8VO and Barbara Kruger. Their stylish design is almost as iconic as the era-defining bands (Joy Division, New Order, etc.) that are synonymous with the Manchester-based label. The upcoming new book, Factory Records: The Complete Graphic Album,is the first to document the graphic legacy with every single piece of their graphic output, such as reproductions of flyers, rare record sleeves and posters organized according to the famous Factory catalogue system. Due out at the end of this month, pre-order it from Amazon.

Ice Cream
Phaidon has a knack for publishing massive overviews that inform, educate, become trusted resources for years to come, and—as is the case with their "cream" series on emerging artists—boast amazing packaging as well. The latest edition, Ice Cream, is no exception with its rainbow mylar cover that takes us back to our sticker collection days. Fortunately, what's inside the cover doesn't disappoint, including some...

It's Pop It's Art: Imagine by John Lennon
Someone once said to me if "Imagine" by John Lennon was never played again, it wouldn't matter, given how deeply embedded in popular culture it is. Love it or hate it, I bet all of you could sing it to yourselves right now. Me, I'm a lover, which is why I'm really pleased this print from Airside is now finally available as part of...

Shephard Fairey Obama Commemorative Plates
Poster boy Shephard Fairey really hit the big time when his Obama print was picked up by the Obama Presidential Campaign last year. Having subsequently designed the official Inaugural Poster for Obama, he looks well positioned to become the go-to guy for reshaping how we visualize the White House. If posters aren't your thing, take comfort in knowing that Fairey has also dipped his feet...

Two New Andy Warhol Books: The Record Covers and Warhol Live
Much is written of the late Andy Warhol. Too much, you might argue. And while the newest pair of titles cover some of the same well-trodden ground, they limit their focus to one specific aspect of the eclectic artist's career. "Warhol Live" and "Andy Warhol: The Record Covers, 1949-1987"&mdashboth published by Prestel&mdashexplore the Pop artist's relationship with the music and bands he loved and...

Classic Books Revisited: Sixties Design
Originally published over two decades ago, Philippe Garner's "Sixties Design" remains the gold standard in encapsulating the visual aesthetic of those ten years. As comprehensive as a single volume can be, Garner looks at most every area of design, from corporate branding to household product design to concert posters. A decade of conflicts, the '60s were the period where companies pared down their image...
