Cockpit USA by Ted Cahill

Cockpit USA is a WWII-inspired clothing line designed to combine new, high-end fabrics with elements such as zippers and buttons that stay true to the originals, creating a highly unique military look. As recently mentioned on Thrillist, Cockpit's newly opened NoHo store in lower Manhattan functions as part museum, part time capsule, where you can buy authentic aviation, military and outdoor artifacts, as well as the latest pieces from the Cockpit USA collection. From their Fall '06 line, we're fans of the classic (and unabashedly now) field jacket (pictured, click for detail). But other styles—from a tweedy grey golf jacket to the hooded brown "Utah Beach Blanket"—are equally fresh choices for fall. Check out the grey golfer, the Utah Beach Blanket and more here.

Two new boutiques recently broke ground on the Lower East Side. Williamsburg antiques dealers Moon Rhee and designer Hey Ja Do were bored with the typical local vintage store fare. Now, their newly opened DEAR:55 on Clinton Street with its gleaming spaceship white glow, offers a modern twist on the norm. Inside the alabaster space is a meticulous selection of vintage and current collections,...
In God We Trust Boutique
SoHo's latest additon, In God We Trust, opened 1 May 2007, and perfectly translates the curiosity/antique shop essence of its Brooklyn predecessor. Closet-like racks bear clothes and accessories by Ritten House, Shennan, Kristen Coates, Beard and Bangs, Harvey Hats, M. Carter, and Shara Porter—designers with a homespun aesthetic much like the In God We Trust label. And as for the much–loved In God We...
Anuschka Hoevener
Thanks to the connection to Berlin that Project No. 8 co-owner Elizabeth Beer has (she's a partner at Arratia, Beer gallery there), the shop has a selection of some of the best Berlin lines. In addition to Schiesser, Kwik Shop and Bless, they carry Anuschka Hoevener, a designer who often incorporates sculptural volume into her work, though not in the usual puffed sleeve kind...
Project No. 8
Elizabeth Beer and Brian Janusiak's new Chinatown venture, Project No. 8, yields a new breed of concept boutique. The eighth of the pair's collaborative endeavors, the store's initial offering includes a wide range of international and local designers, including Boudicca, Tucker, Anuschka Hoevener, RO-BERT, and A Dètacher. Found objects like the "perfect weight pen" from Kaweco, a German pen manufacturer, add an element of...
