Minale Maeda: Table Manners Collection

by Letizia Rossi

TABLEMANNERS-1.jpg DelftsToastpansandPlate-1.jpg

Minale Maeda's "Table Manners Collection" is a clever exploration of the intersection of formal dining and fast food. Toasted directly onto a grilled sandwich, the porcelain pattern lends the refinement of fine china to eating on-the-go. Other works by Mario Minale and Kuniko Maeda, the duo behind this Rotterdam-based design studio, include t-shirts printed with a tablecloth pattern—for those of us who would rather eat topless than on a undressed table—and delicately embroidered paper napkins.

Voxtrot Giveaway

by Letizia Rossi

voxtrot.jpg

We have five copies of the new Voxtrot 7" maxi-single to give away. The quintet from Austin has been drawing comparisons to Belle and Sebastian, The Smiths and The Strokes since 2005 when their debut EP Raised by Wolves came out. No doubt the comparisons give them big shoes to fill, but Voxtrot has been holding their own with their crowd-pleasing indie-pop, both in their dynamic live shows and with their follow-up EP Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives that came out earlier this year. The vinyl pressing features three infectious songs from this indie-pop band, "Your Biggest Fan," as well as two b-sides, "Trouble" and "Sway." "Your Biggest Fan" is a preview of a single from the much anticipated full-length release, which is being produced by a yet-to-be-announced "big name." We'll send a copy of the "Your Biggest Fan" 7" to the first five CH readers who can tell us what Voxtrot singer Ramesh Srivastava dressed up as for Halloween this year.

To enter, follow the contact link at the bottom of the page, select "Voxtrot giveaway" from the pull-down menu and send us your answer. We'll announce the winners Monday, 27 November 2006.

by Lost At E Minor

anthonynewman.jpg anthonynewman2.jpg

Australian photographer Anthony Newman has a real eye for colour and an ability to find a perfect sense of balance in his shots. You kinda want to just dive in there and be a part of the action.
