1978 Heuer Ford Chronosplit RS Motorsport

by Watchismo

1978Heuer

Extremely rare, the 1978 Heuer Ford Chronosplit RS Motorsport is the kind of piece that watch collectors dream about. Designed to look like spark plugs, the battery covers on the front of the watch require a special tool, and the upper LCD panel features a Ford logo. Amazingly, there's a fully-functioning one for sale, complete with its box, original papers, the original battery tool (and the May 1978 issue of the German "Auto Motor und Sport" Magazine that with an ad for it), from 70s-watches.com for the price of £3,800.

After These Messages

by Letizia Rossi

Atmpillow Closeup

Geared towards communications professionals, After These Messages is the perfect forum for anyone who has ever looked at an ad and thought "How can they sleep at night?" An online campaign, it allows members to review advertising and other forms of communication through both a creative and ethical lens. Once a piece of communication is reviewed, it’s placed on a New York magazine-style marketing matrix with the x-axis being “heaven/hell” and the y-axis being “hack/genius.” The free membership also entitles users to post advertisements, newspapers or magazines articles, packaging, photographs, political speeches, books and other pieces of communication for review. Members earn points for each action they take on the site which can be redeemed for After These Messages-branded swag, like a pillowcase emblazoned with the question "What did you do today?" (Also available here for $14.)

Officially launched on 25 September 2006, the site was created by Green Team, an advertising/communications agency that specializes in reaching the "Awakening Consumer, an educated, ethical, environmentally aware and economically powerful audience that uses its purchasing power to influence policy through the brands it supports." What better way is there to push advertising professionals and the rest of us to reflect on our day so that we'll have an answer when asked, "How do you sleep at night?"

Plum Produce

by Evan Orensten

PlumProduce1.jpg PlumProduce2.jpg PlumProduce3.jpg

Boston's historic South End is now home to an innovative new food shop that blends the traditional New England farm stand and the sleek urban market place. Plum Produce is referred to as "the Clinique of farm stands" by proprietor Barbara Lynch (who also owns No. 9 Park, The Butcher Shop, B&G Oysters and the catering company Niche Catour). This intimate new addition offers the same top quality, local produce used in her restaurants available for use at home.

The shop's simple, utilitarian design by C&J Katz Studio directly reflects Lynch's attitude about food by combining traditional seasonal produce with minimalistic, unornamented displays. In addition to fresh vegetables, herbs and dried fruits, you can also find a selection Lynch's house-made preserves.

Coin Dominoes Video

by Ami Kealoha

Whether it's the beauty of snaking lines or the satisfying delight of watching a chain reaction, everyone loves a domino rally. This understated ad one-ups the concept, clocking over two minutes of an unbelievably long trail of falling golden coins. Dare Digital, the firm behind it, claims there are actually 10,000 pound coins used, but we're not counting.

Establishment

by Evan Orensten

Establishment.jpg

Fortunately Ungkun Chanasvangwonk's new shop is a lot easier to pronounce than his name. His Establishment is the latest addition to Manhattan's Meat Packing District.

Most of the items in the store are designed by Ungkun and made in his native Thailand, where he has found local artisans who excel in woodworking, sculpture, pottery and fabric design. His products reflect his passion for traditional Thai designs expressed with a modern sensibility.

The result produces beautiful bowls and tables made from amboyna, a burled wood from Laos. Pillows are made from colorful silks, lamps are carved from stone, and pewter is cast in coral forms to produce ethereal bowls. These all find a home in a beautifully renovated space that allows the products to shine.
