Cool Hunting
A collaboration with Cone Denim (the oldest denim company in the U.S.) artist/designer Susan Cianciolo’s show “Woman of the Crowd” opens tonight, Wednesday, 6 September 2006 at New York's Sears-Peyton Gallery. Past collections have involved Susan's handmade books, music, photography, movies, and clothing. Her unconventional approach to fashion is a mix of delicate detail, hand sewing, embroidery and projects with various photographers, musicians and film makers. For this show Mark Borthwick, writer, FIT research curator Patricia Mears, and art directors Takaya Goto and Lesley Chi of Goto Design are some of the people working with Susan. Additionally, she will be showing a line of clothing made out of denim. The runway show happens tonight and the clothing will be on view for two weeks (until 20 September 2006) before it opens 20 October 2006 at LACE in Los Angeles and runs through 3 November 2006 .

An exclusive first look, Context drops another collabo today, this time with Kicking Mule Workshop for an ultra limited-edition pair of denim pants. A small production of only 50 pairs worldwide, the shuttle-loomed denim leaves a clean white selvage line—but the dying process is what really sets them apart. To make the dye, harvests of the indigo leaves from the Okayama Prefecture in Japan...
While yachts and tattoos generally have little in common, the street-savvy boys behind Vane New York prove that everyone loves a good boat shoe with their urban rendition of Sebago's classic Dockside. Both purveyors of quality, the two brands used their shared attribute to produce a shoe that comes together naturally while keeping to their independent styles. The outcome is a classy downtown loafer...
Levi's is no stranger to collaborating with pioneers of modern art; originality like that of Shepard Fairey and Damien Hirst have a lot in common with the brand's creative spirit and rock n' roll attitude. Joining the ranks of this esteemed consortium is famed graphic designer Stefan Sagmeister who unmade a pair of 501 jeans, stripping and unweaving them down to their core to...
Of streetwear pioneer Alife's many 2008 accomplishments—which include fresh collaborations (see their Lacoste Polos and the Parra x Patta sneaker for a couple of our favorites) and stores opening in Tokyo and Los Angeles—what might be the most significant for the seven-year-old brand is the introduction of their new NYC retail location, the A.R.C. Sports Store. Opened Monday directly across the street from their...
by Ariston Anderson Are there ever days when you want to roll in to work on your skateboard but still have to look somewhat presentable? Well, the latest collaboration between purveyor of all things sneaker, Alife, and French sportswear mogul, Lacoste, is a polo shirt that is the perfect combination of preppy and punk. Featuring the largest alligator ever to grace a (legitimate) Lacoste shirt,...
Damien Hirst's fascination with skulls may be outdone only by his love of jeans. On his latest project for a collaboration with the Levi's brand he's incorporated both, and we're happy to bring you the first look. Like his line from earlier this year, the British artist has teamed with the iconic jeans company to release a limited-edition run of what Hirst describes as...
