Morning Message Pillow by Letizia Rossi

pillowwithtext.jpg

Some of us are less than charming before we've had our morning coffee, but London-based designer James McAdam may have found a way to put an end to misdirected morning grumpiness. His Morning Message Pillow leaves the phrase "Good Morning Sweetheart" indented on your well-rested cheek. Playing on the common sight of cheeks imprinted with pillowcase wrinkles, It's a brilliant example of design that plays on naturally occurring phenomena. Though it looks like it's only a prototype, crafty types can get busy embroidering a knock-off.

Cool Hunting Video Presents: 3:34 of London
On CH's recent London trip, we visited the studios of artist Dodi Wexler, design collective Troika and Social Suicide, the very forward men's fashion label. From Troika's tech-enabled activism to Dodi's "little worlds" and Social Suicide's pairing of irreverence with traditional English tailoring, we found that London, and each specific neighborhood, has everything to do with what these artists and designers do and their...
Bethan Laura Wood
Like a true Brit, Bethan Laura Wood enjoys a good cup of tea. Like a true product designer, she's obviously spent a lot of time thinking about vessels for drinking tea and rituals surrounding the tradition. The results are a beautiful series of tea cups that caught my eye at last month's 100% East exhibition in London. Delicate white porcelain cups create predetermined patterns...
Drop Dead Rug
Inspired by old crime TV, the Drop Dead Rug prototype by British designer Alex Carpenter was such a hit at the London Design Festival in 2005 that Alex will take it into production soon. Mimicking the shape "of an unfortunate soul which may have come to pass right there on your living room floor with their silhouette remaining as evidence," the throw will be...
Ten Things to See at the London Design Festival
Kicking off today, the London Design Festival is a two-week extravaganza with a bewildering array of shows, exhibitions, seminars and general hobnobbing, big names, young talent, highly commercial offerings, as well as work which is so conceptual we’re not really sure if it’s even design. As we reported earlier this week Icon Magazine published a guide, but to make it even easier, here are...
