Cool Hunting
We got a chance to preview the new Kidrobot apparel line last week at their New York offices. The line launches September 28th featuring unique collaborations with famous pop artists and graffiti writers, including TILT and Frank Kozik and draws inspiration from many of Kidrobot’s most popular characters including DUNNY and Smokin’ Rabbit. The line will include colorful track jackets, hoodies, knits, tees and accessories for men and women.
The 80/20 Cotton/Polyester blend brushed hoodies are soft and comfortable with waist ribbing and a slim silhouette. My favorite feature is a pocket designed to hold an mp3 player on the inside with a slot to thread your earphones through. Each item is limited with the edition number embroidered on the piece. A weather-proof jacket, laptop messenger bag and wallet should be released in time for the holiday season.
All products will be available this fall exclusively at Kidrobot stores and select retailers including Barney’s New York. Some designs will also be available online.

Just over a year old, the Baltimore-based line Squidfire now boasts a whole range of goods hand-printed on manual presses with their original designs. In addition to Vans (actually hand-painted), messenger bags and a line for kids, they've recently introduced hoodies, like this "Workout" sweatshirt (pictured left, $45) that features overlapping images of a smiling 70's-era muscleman in red, blue and black on grey....
At São Paulo Fashion Week (SPFW) a kiosk stocked with tees caught my attention. Yet another project that creative team ag407 has its hand in, one of the firm's partners told me that they had come up with the idea to mimic the "bancas" or newstands of São Paulo. The pop-up version at fashion week was based on six other Banca de Camisetas that...
Launched earlier this year, the limited edition version of the Signat Attaché Case, a collaboration between Samsonite Black Label and British fashion designer Matthew Williamson, is finally available online just in time for gift giving. Also re-released in orange, yellow and pink (see images here), the effort celebrates Samsonite's classic 1960's Signat Attaché Case. For the limited edition version, Williamson accented the cream exterior...
Harlem-based design house Maak Eebuh is launching their debut line of T-shirts "The War Series," aiming to provoke comment and build dialogue about the war in the Middle East. After working in costume design and high-end fashion at Yigal Azrouel, designer Jade Schulz started the line of limited edition tees earlier this year as "a brand whose artwork filters important issues of the moment...
The world's first international news magazine on cotton, T-post is a subscription t-shirt service based in Sweden. Silkscreened onto American Apparel tees, subscribers get a new "issue" every six weeks with a design about a current news item on the outside and a short article on the topic printed inside. Many of the stories covered by T-post are outside the radar of the traditional...
