Fruitree by Evan Orensten

fruitree.jpg

Fruitree is a concept piece designed by Chia Shee Loh, Antonietta Fortunato and Elena Godenzi. They were motivated to solve the out of sight, out of mind problem with fruit that goes uneaten and spoils. The fact that fruit grows on trees does not go unnoticed in this design, where the results are both decorative and literal. Circulating air is pushed throughout the Fruitree, keeping the fruit fresh longer.

by Laura Neilson As the fervent war against plastic wages on, Fresh Snack Pack reusable sandwich and snack bags are a clever and eco-friendly alternative to the disposable kind. Made from PVC-free, non-toxic plastic, the Packs come in two sizes (sandwich and snack). They feature an easy-to-open velcro closure and, because economizing doesn't necessarily mean eating PB and J sandwiches every single day, these handy...

Both a simple and inexpensive solution, the Plus Minus (±) System is a series of stackable bowls and plates that allow the user the option of a regular or smaller-sized portion. Each...
DesignKAAS Cheese
by Laura NeilsonI came across Marinde van Leeuwen's playfully decorated wheels of baby gouda during a recent trip to Amsterdam, and now I'm kicking myself for not sneaking some back to The States with me. Produced by DesignKAAS, even the most turophobic person would appreciate one of these artful creations. The 5.5-inch wheels, described on company's site as "good Dutch farmers cheese in a nice...
Frederik Roijé: Two of a Kind Ring
Bucking nearly every Valentine's Day gift cliché out there by dispensing with traditional materials, colors, ornamentation and the like, this porcelain double ring is a minimalist piece of jewelry that still packs a sweetly sentimental punch. Designed by Dutch designer Frederik Roijé and produced by Droog, "in breaking the ring an engagement with each other will exist." We can't think of a more elegant...
