Last week I ran into Edward Vilga, one of my favorite yoga teachers, on the subway. He generously gave a me a copy of his "Yoga in Bed" DVD to check out. Yesterday morning it was raining so hard that there was no way I was going to go to the gym. So I tried out the DVD instead, and it was great! The yoga wasn't difficult and I was ready to start my day. And by the time it was done, it had stopped raining. I called Edward to thank him and he told me that "consistency is the most important factor in yoga." The DVD has an energizing morning workout and a restorative nighttime workout. Edward says that the night workout helps you fall asleep faster and sleep better. Best of all, you don't even have to get out of your bed for either of them. Pick up your own copy from Amazon.

Wooden acting and choppy production quality aside (we think it's part of its charm), when "Wild Style" was produced in 1982 the movie-going public was barely aware of the burgeoning hip hop scene sprouting up in the decaying urban centers that had been abandoned by the comfortable classes in the previous decade. “Nothing else comes close to capturing the atmosphere of the early days...

To help blind consumers, Japan's Mitsubishi Kagaku Media has released CD-R with braille on the disc's surface. Each CD holds 700MB of data, and they are packaged 10 discs...
In the past year David Lynch released his epic experimental film Inland Empire (shot entirely on mini-DV), wrote a book on transcendental meditation called Catching the Big Fish (and inaugurated an annual conference on the subject) and debuted his line of signature coffee. In honor of the iconoclast's many achievements we have a trio of prizes—his coffee, a copy of Catching the Big Fish...
The format of these DVDs vary but the content is consistent: collaborations between musicians, artists, directors and designers that often feature experimental and innovative styles and techniques. Here are five our favorites. Reline 2 is the second in a series of abstract and progressive audio visual works. Comprised of films by 19 artists from around the world, the videos enliven otherwise static architecture with customized...
Edward Burtynsky photographs a world changing for the purposes of industrial development. His most recent book, China, is a glimpse into the massive social and economic transformation currently underway as China tries to join the ranks of more industrialized nations. Burtynsky says that “these images are meant as metaphors to the dilemma of our modern existence; they search for a dialogue between attraction and...
