Three Options for Dining al Fresco by Ami Kealoha

Newly available from Flight 001, these clever designs make picnics in the park, or days when you're brown bagging it, easier and tastier. Swiss Spice Salt & Pepper Shaker gets rave reviews from CH colleagues for its water-resistant design that reportedly stays clog-free even in Himalayan-high altitudes. To scoop, spear or saw at your perfectly-seasoned meal, the Spork ($3) by Light My Fire updates the cafeteria classic by de-integrating the fork from the spoon (it's now on either end) and adding a serrated edge. The Outdoor Meal Kit ($24) includes a Spork, as well as two plates, a spill-free cup, a combined colander and cutting board, providing everything needed to prepare and consume a meal and packing into a small water-tight container.

Developed throughout the mid-1900s, geodesic domes are most commonly associated with the architect R. Buckminster Fuller, who hoped to popularize them enough to offer a...

However, Molo Design studio's installation, Northern Sky Circle—created for Freeze Project in Alaska—will have you happily gathering with friends in this ephemeral outdoor amphitheater comprised of nothing but snow and ice. The Vancouver-based design team began construction on the amphitheater on a pitch black, −30°C morning in Anchorage but they quickly realized...
The Stash at Killington: Rough Cut and Interview
Last week we were invited by our friends at Burton to go up to Killington, VT to try out the new Stash trail which opened early this year. Taking riding back to the roots of freestyle, the Stash run strategically weaves it way down a wooded trail offering a mix of terrain, hits, rails, jibs, powder shots and even a small cabin for the...
Clous: Urban Seating Element
Addressing the lack of places to rest one's feet in the modern metropolis, French designer Francois Bauchet seems to, ahem, have hit the nail on the head with a new urban seating element recently installed in front of the Saint-Etienne rail station in southern France. Named Clous, French for nail, the form of the design makes a playful reference to the utilitarian object, providing a...
