The Doghouse Kitchen Treats by Evan Orensten

doghousekitchen.jpg

Dogs, like most people, will take good tasting junk food treats over most healthy treats. The Doghouse Kitchen makes organic dog treats that are dairy-, wheat- and corn-free—and apparently quite tasty. They do not contain any preservatives, GMO, salt or soy products. Of the three varieties, I Yam What I Yam ranks highest on the list of CH mascots Otis and Logan's favorite treats.

This photo essay by Jeff Barnett-Winsby looks at a program through which inmates at a Kansas correctional facility were given sick or injured dogs to raise for a period of time before they were adopted out into the wider community. Barnett-Winsby says, "While taking the photographs of the interiors, I was introduced to a program at the prison that they were incredibly proud of....
Baked Granola
Normally bakeries aren't run by two guys formerly in the advertising industry, but Baked isn't a normal bake shop either. While we'd love to bask in the glory of these rich, delicious desserts everyday, it's likely best they're...
Phyto Universe
Combining the ambiance of a day spa with the technicality of a dentist's office, Phyto Universe is a relaxing way to treat your hair and scalp to full on revitilization. The "natural beauty oasis" focuses on remedying your roots first by analyzing your scalp using a hair scope, which magnifies the hair and scalp 200 times. From there a Phyto expert identifies the challenges and...
Photographer Maarten Wetsema
Dutch photographer Maarten Wetsema (b. 1966) has some of the most fetching canine portraits I've come across. I've been particularly taken with his series on Daan and Jacob (left and right, above), in which the two dogs are photographed on a variety of seating elements against a seamless background. The deadpan of Daan's gaze is priceless, while Jacob looks to be the most cuddly dog...
